Clay Holmes and Taylor - I’m really sad about Jefferson Rojas though……I really liked him as a player and prospect. Not sure what to think of this one

that's f'ing terrible.

With how hard the Cubs refused to trade Ayers, but were okay sending Rojas here, it's probably telling you internally how they feel.

Even so, this feels very heavy on a return.

Don't really know how to square the relative prices of Gausman and Holmes.

Good job making moves. Very bad job solving any of your future problems.

Holmes scheduled to return from rehab assignment, yeah?

Yeah he should be back next weekend.  Maybe they give him one more rehab start given the trade circumstances?

Welp Mets just maybe got us back for the PCA fleece. On one hand I feel for Jed… what do you do? The asking price on literally everybody must be sky high. You either swallow it and make the deal he just made, or continue being an arm short. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. I hate giving up Rojas for a solid rental, but I can see Jed’s perspective also

I think a Met player might be around a bit.

Yikes. Rojas for a rental is kinda wild, no?

It was definitely high but Holmes is without a doubt a playoff starter and you also get a guy who mashes lefties which they really needed.

Yeah, that turned out well. PCA is the only player left from Darvish, Schwarber, Rizzo, Baez and Bryant, I believe. Didn’t really do so well on those trades, and the Bellinger salary dump still smacks my hoes.

I didn't know we were evaluating the trades.  I thought you were asking for when the last time they made an impactful trade was, meaning it was a big name top tier acquisitions.

Honestly they did fine on the sell off trades.  If you trade a half season of Rizzo, Javy and KB and get someone on (an early) track to be an inner circle HOFer you are doing pretty damn well IMO.  Caissie netted us Cabrera who has been a disappointment but he proved to be pretty strong capital for that trade.  Alcantara is as of this moment still on the roster and has upside even if hes probably not going to realize it here.  It's always going to be a bit of a crapshoot when trading away a half season of a guy imo.

This feels like an overpay, I dunno if I like this one. I would have rather given up Ayers for Detmers. Mets are out for revenge from the PCA trade.

I'm both excited and want to throw up. I love Holmes and Gaus for this season. Hate that we moved an asset like Rojas and didn't acquire a controlled starter.
