  1. welcome to the Budweiser broadcast booth brought to you by miller lite
  2. I used to play Words with Friends with Jarrett Payton.
  3. Folks on Reddit claim Parkins makes 7 figures in his current gig. I really enjoyed Danny, but unless he gets let go by FS1 or just misses Chicago so terribly that he’s willing to settle for, what, a quarter of that, there’s no way he’s taking the gig. And he and haugh would go together like oil and water. More likely it’ll be someone they can save a few bucks on like Ruthie Polinski, Gabe Ramirez, or Carmen Vitale.
  4. It’s so unrecognizable compared to what it was in its heyday. It’s always had its flaws and bad on air personalities, but we’re only like 7 or 8 years removed from it being around the clock live and local. None of the current on air personalities really carry any gravitas or have any charisma. I’ve always liked Grote, Harris and Spiegel are fine. They all kinda seem like supporting players though, Holmes comes off as whiny and condescending and Haugh is very grating. Local radio is dying everywhere, but the talent drain is tough to see.
  5. Good stuff, thanks for sharing this. I mostly only know him as the former producer of the Big Picture podcast, but Wags is the man.
  6. Yeah, that’s a surprise. Man, Harris was so bad, though. No surprise there. The Score is such a shell of what it used to be. So much time filled with nationally syndicated shows, wagertainment, and replays of 2016 Cubs games. And the personalities on ESPN 1000 do nothing for me.
  7. Yeah I mean I have no strong opinions on Kepley one way or the other, but throwing a Rickey Henderson comp (no matter what level of poverty you want to qualify the comp with!) is giving “Harold Reynolds analyzes the draft” vibes. Dude is 17th among hitters in fwar all time. There’s some guys whose careers are just so hallowed that invoking their name in relation to a back end top 100 prospect who just hit AA is just silly on its face. I tend to like players who play like Kepley but I’m still waiting to see more upper level success before I buy in, but even then, as others have mentioned, it’ll be interesting to see if he actually makes sense in the cubs lineup when he is ready. If Seiya walks, if Busch levels out closer to 18-22 HRs than the 34 he hit last year, etc. they’re going to need to find somewhere for more thump in the lineup, and COF is one of the only spots that’s not spoken for in the coming years.
  8. It’s a little hard to bridge the gap when one guy is throwing a Nico comp (complementary!) and the other guy is pulling out Rickey Henderson.
  9. 4 pitches into the game, Amaya with one of the dumber challenges you’ll see.
  10. Yep I’m sure he’ll start crumbling under the pressure any day now. Anyyyy dayyy now.
  11. Man, Jed got ensorcelled by a 26 strong innings from Zeferjahn and made him his premiere bullpen addition at the deadline. Whaddya know, he immediately turned back into the same walk and HR pitcher he’s always been.
  12. I mean, Larry Gies donated $100 million to the Illinois athletic program last year. It’s gone, in part, to building a comically large video board. You’re not wrong, but just pointing out that it’s not a northwestern specific phenomenon. Billionaires, man.
  13. Sounds like they like him as swing tackle, jumbo TE, but not really in the mix as a starter
  14. Respectfully, you’re talking out of your ass.
  15. I read somewhere not to expect him back until after the new year. Have you seen a more optimistic timeline? That would have him out against Texas Tech, Duke, UConn, and Missouri, as well as the first couple of conference games.
