  1. Eh, agree somewhat, but their third starter currently is Colin Rea. Cabrera is hurt and when healthy was getting squared up every time out, we know Steele won’t be starting when he returns, and as much as I would love to lock in May/June Ben Brown when he returns, that’s a gigantic question mark. Boyd and Shota wore down at the end of last year. Soroka and Horton went down post-deadline after it was too late to add anyone of substance. I agree they don’t need depth pitchers (Rea, Assad, Peterson are your depth pitchers in an ideal scenario), but grabbing two starters you can count on in the playoffs given all of the above isn’t silly. I don’t think it’s a necessity, but I do think it would be wise. There are other scenarios I could talk myself into, but I’m far more comfortable with the cavalry of injured pitchers serving as bullpen reinforcements and going big on the rotation.
  2. If PCA can triple his walk rate overnight, his buddy Caleb can add 12% to his cmp% overnight.
  3. Ah great, there goes one of our 120+ hitters.
  4. Six left on base in two innings? Wake up, offense.
  5. Kinda pokes a hole in your entire premise when 8 PAs can swing someone 6 points and the cubs have three guys two points away from your arbitrary cutoff.
  6. Ok one more. Rushing’s wRC+ dipped from 124 at EOD 7/23 to 118 EOD today after a 1/8 weekend with no xbhs. For the purposes of this exercise, let me know if he should be removed or if we should add Busch, Conforto, and Ramirez and their 118s to the Cubs count. Also if we get to include Hernandez’s 799, can we also include Triantos’ 484 and Dean’s 177? If so, the Cubs have an astounding 7 players with at least a 118 wRC+. To put that in perspective, that’s only one less than the 1927 Yankees.
  7. Yeah, this has been a theme for some time (shout out to the second half of last year when we were treated to daily articles about how wonderful the Brewers are), but this one takes the cake. “If you take away the guy having one of the best seasons in Cubs history, things look worse.” I can’t wrap my head around the idea that trading talent from a middle of the pack farm system to improve a deeply flawed rotation is a bad idea, particularly when we’re rocking one of the best lineups (according to stats instead of vibes or whatever) and defenses. also setting up the idea that the Cubs *need* a middle of the order bat (they don’t) only to determine that, no, they should not get one. Huh.
  8. lol what is this cherry picked nonsense? 4th in runs scored, 3rd in wRC+, 1st in BB%, 4th in wOBA, 4th in xwOBA, 2nd in OBP.
  9. I don’t agree with Theo’s thinking there. Chapman was toast. If they resumed the next day and he took the mound in the 10th, I don’t think things end well.
  10. It was in 2020. It was a dumb political meme about Hillary Clinton being a man. The funniest part about it is that it was included in a tweet about maybe the most inconsequential Cubs call up ever. Gramps fumbled his phone trying to break the Ian Miller call up news as quickly as possible and accidentally attached one of the pictures from his Drunk Uncle folder lmao.
  11. The whole highlight package is is worth the watch. I’m all in.
  12. I hope they try to win next year and the year after that and the year after that and the year after that. Call me crazy, but I don’t like watching ****** baseball.
  13. He was the player that the Rays traded for Lou Piniella!
  14. It’s a silly (hopefully joke?) post that doesn’t really deserve rebuttals, but 97% of PCA’s minor league PAs were for Cubs affiliates. He counts as a cubs developmental success too.
