  1. I think we need to take a moment to appreciate Peterson. The rotation was falling apart, Jed made a deal to help stop the bleeding and Peterson has answered with a 1.57 ERA over his last 5 starts. Granted, that number is not sustainable but commendable job to keep things together through the deadline and beyond.
  2. Unrelated but the Blue Jays officially recalled Bateman for his MLB debut.
  3. And the Blue Jays are recalling Bateman for his MLB debut.
  4. I think this is all fair. I did want Holmes, and I think if he sticks around after 2026 I'll feel a little better about the trade. And I've warmed up to Zeferjahn the more I've read about him and we have him under control for quite awhile. If he ends up as closer or an elite setup man, it will be hard to argue against this one. I do think Mo will catch a bit and have a good career so that's where I'm at. I'm no scout and clearly the Cubs thought this was fair value for him.
  5. Can we get Thielbar on the phantom injury IL? Also, RIP Cubs Luke Little
  6. I gave it a solid B. I'm still miffed on trading Mo Baller and Rojas in those deals so that brings it down for me but I absolutely cannot complain about the guys we acquired. The fill both immediate and future needs. Gausman and Holmes were the two rental SPs I wanted most.
  7. FG ranked all the traded prospects. There were 95 of them overall. Rojas comes in 5th with a 50 FV, Long at 49 with a 40 FV. The other 4 guys (McGwire, Beck, Bateman, Southisene) out of the top 50 with a 35 FV or lower. They called the latter two "very Toronto" and don't seem high on McGwire.
  8. Don't he and some of the Cubs FO have history together? And doesn't he work out in the offseason with Ben Brown? Certainly helps.
  9. Former prospect Christian Franklin was traded by the Nats to the Orioles yesterday and the Orioles are adding him to the roster to make his MLB debut.
  10. Holmes' player option isn't honestly that expensive. I wouldn't be upset if he exercises it but conversely I wonder if we like what we see and turn that option into a 2 or 3 year extension instead.
  11. Again I am very happy with who we acquired but quite miffed about what we gave up. I'd feel a little better if Holmes is extended.
  12. I don't care how good Holmes might be down the stretch or that Rojas is blocked. This was a terrible use of a top prospect as a resource.
  13. I like Zeferjahn but that return kinda pisses me off. I like Mo a lot and still think he has a bright future.
  14. Cozart is a nice catching prospect but projects more as a glove first backup I think. Doesn't necessarily take us and Ayers out.
  15. As a fellow Cubs fan in PA, welcome! I am not that concerned. The team is a little streaky and ran into some good pitching.
  16. He honestly might, especially if they trade Varsho. Bateman and Pinango possibly in that same starting lineup one day in September.
  17. I like Southisene and Bateman quite a bit but both have limited ceilings and you gotta do this trade. Gausman one of the better rental SPs available.
  18. One positive is this should make the rest of the market move quickly since no one is waiting on Skubal anymore. (As quickly as it can with less than 48 hours to go)
  19. I assumed it was gonna be Hope, Sheehan, Ryan and another prospect. Flip side, could we get Sheehan? Sucks it's the Dodgers but at least it's not the Brewers.
  20. The return for Castillo seemed light until seeing the White Sox are taking all of his contract. Kudos to them for going for it but also lol.
  21. AJ Minter traded to the Twins for Benny Agbayani's son.
  22. That would be real ballsy considering Amaya's injury history and how important a good two-way catcher is to a contending club. I almost wonder if they are just doing due diligence on the market, or as BN suggested, making a ploy to get someone like the Angels more interested in Ayers.
  23. Arredondo was not ranked among Rangers top prospects on Pipeline or FG.
