  1. That's not unreasonable for Realmuto in a vacuum but taking the rest of the offseason into account it's underwhelming and typical of the Phillies FO the last couple years. Band-aid fixes and additions at the fringes. They shelled out to keep Schwarber, yeah. And he's well liked here by everyone and still mashes. But the Phillies still feel one or two pieces away and they're not making that jump. They are now basically running back the same roster from last year's disappointment. Add in that they have a malcontent and overpaid Castellanos still on the roster.
  2. Yeah I kinda wonder if Steve Cohen is so mad that he just blows past the Yankees' offer to get someone, anyone. Both the Mets and Yankees are having brutal offseasons. Yankees missed out on everyone by holding a months-long staring contest with Bellinger.
  3. And also the Mets miss out on another guy lol
  4. Oh I'm sure there are. But that AAV is still insane. They're gonna be paying players when my grandkids have grandkids. But who cares when you can win the WS every year.
  5. lmao horsefeathers off. 60 a year??????!!!!!!
  6. I guess good for him. I kinda wanted him back as a fallback option but he'll get plenty of playing time there.
  7. And it makes so much sense for Tucker to go to Toronto and Framber to go to Baltimore. Fits obvious needs.
  8. I'm happy for Ranger Suarez getting the bag. He was quietly dominant in Philly for a bit before people took notice and he was well liked. He was likely never expected back and the Andrew Painter experience is arriving. Boston now has the best rotation in the division, maybe the AL. Sadly, for now we miss out on Ranger pitching for the Rangers.
  9. Mets gave him that high AAV offer but Blue Jays gave him a longer term offer. I guess it depends which he prefers. I'd rather him not go to the Mets in part because the Mets whiffing on every FA including their own is objectively hilarious.
  10. Three of the four are in the Yankees' top 30 prospects on Pipeline but none top 10. One of the guys the Marlins got, Dillon Lewis, had a 20-20 season in the minors and they were apparently enamored with him and wanted him in Edward Cabrera trade talks but the Yankees didn't want to add the significant pieces necessary to that deal. So they worked it out later for Weathers. Yankees' rotation when everyone is healthy is gonna be like 9 deep. They have Paul Blackburn and Ryan Yarbrough on MLB deals too.
  11. Yanks really trying to avoid spending money aside from possibly Cody Bellinger.
  12. That's a thought, but Dean has 3 options left and I'm not sure he makes for a great 4th OFer. If we don't sign anyone of note, and he survives the rest of the winter on the roster, I'm sure he'll get every chance in ST to win a bench spot.
  13. 29 year old speedy outfielder. Hopefully that is the last Cubs-Giants transaction of the offseason.
  14. I don't know if it was mentioned here yet but Fangraphs did a write-up of the Bregman deal and included a shout out to NSBB and Matt Trueblood. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/cubs-land-alex-bregman-on-five-year-deal/
  15. The Dbacks are paying just 11 mil of the 42 he's still owed. And gave up their 8th rounder from last year. So it's basically a low risk pick up for them and the Cardinals begging to be rid of the contract.
  16. This is my feeling exactly. Keeps everyone fresh and eases Steele back into it. In the second half when everyone looked gassed last year, this feels like a no brainer.
  17. The Giants don't have a great farm system and no one on their MLB roster I'd want in a deal who would actually be available. I'm hoping this is just a "the Giants called, the Cubs said what it would take, the end" kind of thing.
  18. Well yes but Tucker will also probably want at least 8 years and 300 mil. Clearly we're not comfortable at that length.
  19. Hot damn. I'm thrilled about landing a big FA and 5 years is decent. The AAV is a bit insane but money is coming off the books next year. So that basically solidifies Shaw as the utility infielder, Mo as the DH and Alcantara as the 4th OF unless they have another surprise lined up.
  20. Kepler was a FA anyway and was not good last year. The Phillies have two options if they sign Bichette: Bichette, Turner, Stott trade off between 2B, 3B and SS and the Phillies trade Bohm for a catcher. or Bichette takes over SS and Turner goes into LF, with Adolis Garcia in RF and Marsh/Justin Crawford getting CF. The Phillies may need to trade Bohm anyway and they are not going into next year with Marchan/Stubbs as the catchers. It's also no secret Castellanos has played his last game with them. I'm sure they're trying to trade him before outright releasing him. I could see the Reds interested in brining him back since their OF is bleak.
