My O/U was originally at 3.5 names added. Cubs picked up one yesterday and I'll still hammer the over. I think it's four names added in the end. So three to go.

One more SP
One RP
One bench bat

How about Detmers, Zeferjohn and Adell? One stop shopping. What would that cost?

Cubs definitely could use a 1st baseman. They’ll have a clogged bench if Shaw and Ramirez stay put.

What happened to Busch?

Can I go with Push? Does a bench bat count as a 0.5 player?

Nothing, except he's not hitting well lately, and we have no backup 1B.

Let's consolidate everything down; we can start new threads for big deals and Cubs deals, but have a day of thread!

Thank you! Swamped at work today and I like to read the entire day from start-to-finish after work. 🙏

He could use some rest here and there, no? They signed Tyler Austin inspite of nothing happening to Busch.

Yes, it would be good if they added a right handed bat who can play the corner and first base. Or it would be good if Shaw would get back from his injury. He could just be that guy.

Shaw is too short and doesn’t have enough reach for my liking but sure, he’s an option.

Yeah I want a RH thumper with defensive versatility.  Shaw's power might be down too after a wrist injury.

Adell would be perfect if he could play 1st base as a platoon option, but still a solid DH option. An extra year of control might inflate the price tag.

I don't think we are adding bench players unless we use guys like Pedro Ramirez to snag a controllable starter. And unfortunately, I don't think Jed is going to find a good controllable starter he's willing to spend much prospect capital on.

At this stage, I think the most likely outcome is that Jed grabs a good reliever and a guy from the Soroka model last year. A rental who is an upgrade over our 5th starter mess, but would probably move to the pen if enough players are healthy come the playoffs. Or maybe instead of a swingman he just goes straight with a second pen arm.

I'm prepared to be underwhelmed. But Gausman was a good add at a fine price. So the trade deadline wont be a total bust.

Whatever happened to Amaya at first? It will be moot because Busch is going to go on a tear.
