    Note in Gameday: Matthew Boyd is allowing a higher hard-hit rate vs. last season (38% -> 50%, MLB avg: 39%). Is this something that has gotten better over the year? Was worse just before IL stint? Cause for concern?

    . Just saw the graphic showing three cubs in the top ten of OAA (up the middle guys). Then Boog and JD mention that cubs pitchers don't strike out many and give up homers. That made me wonder if low strikeout rates (more balls in play) leads to the higher OAA for the Cubs. I'm not saying PCA, Nico and Dansby aren't amazing, but I'm just wondering if the low strikeouts gives them a little bump?

    This team was constructed for a deep run. With two aces (and approximately 700 other pitchers) on the IL, the calculus has changed. Significant starting rotation additions are necessary for a deep playoff run. It’s not that complicated or worth arguing over. You guys are saying the same thing.

    There was. These days pitches are clocked out of the hand. 30 years ago, the were clocked approaching the plate. Nolan Ryan threw this hard.
