  1. Be nice if he didn’t start against LHP for the rest of the season, but in a walk year, I doubt Counsell does that to him. Also, has anyone dug into Busch and his horsefeathers year and I missed it? It’s a pretty dramatic drop in production from who was our best hitter last season. Where’d his power go? xslg of .401? Yikes.
  2. Two man outfield!? So many possibilities!
  3. So glad he wasn’t moved at the deadline. He looks in control of his abs, for the most part, whereas his peers, Alcantara, Mo B, Shaw, Cassie, etc., look reactionary if not a bit lost. Ala PCA before he became a monster.* I dunno. He seems to get it, and he’s what, 22? 2 years younger than Shaw and PCA? Would like to see him get a couple days more days in the field, just to get the regulars more rest. Including Busch. He seems to be pretty damn good at 3b, and can hold serve at 2b. Should be able to handle 1b. He's also played 37 innings in LF last year in AA, didn’t have a chance at AAA before being promoted. I have no idea how he looked out there, but him in the OF isn’t unprecedented. (* - Bregman has already been worth the contract, in my eyes, just for his PCA whispering. Whatever else happens with him is gravy)
  4. I'm still in awe Jed traded my favorite player for my favorite player. I horsefeathers on him often, but I couldn't be happier this is happening to Ol Stevie Cohen. How horsefeathers lucky we are this season.
  5. I'm trying to be happy that Jed finally did a Lil sumthin, but the clouds I see are it's less currency to fill the same holes in the off season, then spend next trade deadline 'looking for 'controllable pitching.' Part of my frustration is that these trades perpetuate the cycle to continue, viciously and endlessly.
  6. I thought that was the lineup! I thought to myself, “Huh, that’s fun."
  7. 6-1 bitches! JAssad don’t give a two shits about your metricritics. Baserunners? He’s lonely. He loves ‘em. But, he’s also a mysterious loner, so he strands them, like the homeless girls he dates.
  8. Does this feel like enough to compete with Milwaukee and/or LA in a series to anyone?
  9. I mean, maybe? Two back end Top 20 talents for a rental?
  10. Yeah, that turned out well. PCA is the only player left from Darvish, Schwarber, Rizzo, Baez and Bryant, I believe. Didn’t really do so well on those trades, and the Bellinger salary dump still smacks my hoes.
  11. Have the Cubs made an impactful trade at the deadline since Chapman? (Soroka aside)
  12. He's returning some video tapes...
  13. Sure, but Smith should probably have had those plate appearances in the minors, yeah? And then wouldn’t have made them while learning a new position at the MLB level. (Of the team that just traded a perennial all-star for you. Yeah, a bit of an excuse, but still gotta be hard on a kid, I’d think. Shaw is also almost two years older (loose math.)) Watching Ramirez’s at-bats these past few weeks, he doesn’t look like a kid up there feeling for hits. He looks like a potential dude finding his footing (to an armchair scout.) I’d hate to see him go. (Maybe I’m a bit enamored with the Mookie and Jose Ramirez comps earlier this year, but he looks so damn calm and polished.) (Morel was me! He made those ****** teams enjoyable to watch because he was so damn joyful, along with some fun moments. But yes, he never turned those tools into anything useful.)
  14. I dunno. Calling it ‘value for a 6th round pick’ doesn’t feel right. He was paid second round money. And it’s not like we have fuckall to show for our past few drafts. If Pedro is traded, that means both Cam Smith and he were traded to keep horsefeathers Matt Shaw around.
  15. We have one legit prospect, be nice to not trade him for a rental. If the Cubs can get better, and keep PCA, Ramirez and Hartshorn, I’ll feel great about it.
  16. Kenley Jansen is a right handed back of the bullpen arm, I haven't heard much about him
  17. Yeah, this TDL should give, theoretically, a hint at what direction they are going in RF next year (I firmly believe if they offer Happ a QO, he’ll take it and be back in LF doing what he do. Seiya might as well, considering if there is a lockout, he’d still get paid. I don’t imagine FAs do?) CC seems to be sour on Alcantara, ONKC is gone, Hartshorn and Kepley are both a bit away. Does anyone believe Shaw is a good answer for RF next year?
  18. Is Shaw better defensively than Ramirez? Is Shaw even alive? Where's he at?
  19. I kinda hope they do? At least it would deplete some of their farm before they sign him in the off-season.
