  1. It's time to start making some decisions on underperforming players. This has to be in for Maton. Here is baserunners allowed for his last 9 appearances: 3 2 0 2 3 0 3 1 3 He hasnt pitched more than 1 inning in any of those appearances.
  2. Had no faith that Swanson would get the job done so he did not disappoint.
  3. Offense decided it was done today I guess.
  4. Cardinals pulled a struggling starter and have largely shut down the Cubs offense since then. Shota will probably pitch the 6th for the Cubs. Of course the Cardinals had an off day yesterday so likely had the flexibility
  5. Shota now 4th in baseball in most HRs allowed this year. Still trailing the league leader (Taillon) by 6 though
  6. Make that 8 HR allowed in shota’s last 3 starts
  7. The Cubs by far lead baseball with a 14.2% HR/FB rate allowed. The next closest team is at 13.0%. Does that mean the Cubs are getting unlucky or they just suck? I'm assuming more data is needed to tell for sure but at least a little part of it has to be bad luck right?
  8. 7th HR allowed in Shota’s last 3 starts
  9. How long until Cubs opponents start just walking the first 2 batters of every inning since that is basically the most effective way to prevent the Cubs from scoring runs? Led off the inning with a double followed by a single and 0 runs scored.
  10. Seiya with a hit with RISP! (that doesn’t even advance the runner 😂)
  11. Most HRs allowed this year: 1. Taillon - 19 (4 more than anyone else) 14. Imanaga - 11 28. Rea - 9 42. Cabrera - 8 78. Bummer - 6 Bummer hasn't pitched for the Cubs yet but interesting to point out that he has the 2nd most HRs allowed by a pitcher who hasnt made a start this season.
  12. 18 ER in 11.1 IP over Shota's last 3 starts (2+ starts I guess). 6 HRs allowed too. That's insane.
  13. Baseball is such a bizarre sport. No one hits for almost an entire month and now all the sudden they flipped a switch and are scoring runs again.
  14. Cubs are 14-14 in their last 28 games! #treadingwater
  15. Well good hustle Seiya but geez another double play grounder on a 3-1 count with a runner on 3rd and 1 out just like the 1st inning yesterday.
  16. Seems like a legit source Edit: or maybe not doesn’t seem to be a ton of chatter, just a rumor for now
  17. Not sure but quite a few games lately have had the Cubs winning the xBA battle with not enough to show for it
  18. I vote JaMo is the Cubs only all star but he’s only allowed to pitch the HR derby
  19. Everyone was wondering when an NL Central team would fall below .500. Never would have guessed it might be the Cubs
  20. Wait did you think they were going to win today? Oh you did? How sad
  21. When your closer is pitching in the 7th inning of a gsme you’re losing 9-1 (now 10-1) things are either going very well or very poorly.
