Yeah plus correct me if I'm wrong but he's not really the style of player who is en vogue in the NBA right now. Not saying he won't be an NBA player and possibly a decent one, but his profile might suppress his draft value at least coming out this year. Mara is in better shape because you can't teach that size and wingspan but hes not a shooter at all (hes hit a couple jump shots but they call come off flat) and most of his points are moves around the basket that more skilled NBA defenders will be able to slow down. He is an elite passing big man and should be a strong defender though.

FYI he was in Miami when he was hurt. But point still stands, likely wasn't going to do any tests with Team Japan, especially because they were eliminated.

Congrats to the Purdue fans on the board, they looked like a completely different team today. I haven’t seen a team all year abuse our bigs defensively like that over and over and over again. I figured if Purdue would win it would be them getting hot from 3 but they were only 4/14. Also Michigan just doesn’t look the same after the Cason injury. All 5 of their games since then have gone down to the wire. I don’t think he is vital to Michigan but it’s definitely made our offense more limited. Or it’s just 5 games at the end of a long and grueling Big Ten season and Purdue found another gear. We’ll see..definitely less confident in them than I was a month ago.

Big Ten officials are ridiculous, but I’ll point out that Michigan is also top 20 nationally at avoiding fouls (though Illinois is number 1) btw Wisconsin scares the horsefeathers out of me. The way they came back from a 15 point deficit to take a 4 point lead over like 4 minutes had me losing my mind. Especially considering it was their 3rd game in a row and they had 3 guys in foul trouble. When they are on they are scary good. Hope they are on the other side of Michigan’s bracket.

They haven’t been the same since Wagler hurt his shoulder. Their upside was based on having a historically good offense and he was a huge part of that. Hes obviously playing but his shot hasn’t been falling and doesn’t seem as dynamic as he was earlier in the year.

Well for one, they didn't restructure a single contract. Based on reports they could have created up to $80m in cap space with the right restructures, they just didn't (hence the chatter that the McCaskey's are cash poor which I don't necessarily agree is the reason here). I'm fine with not keeping Brisker and Wright. Sounds like they wanted to keep Byard, he just chose to go to NE. Cutting Edmunds was the right move. They really got caught off guard from Dalman's injury and understandably so. I'm not necessarily ripping on Poles here. Maybe a little but its not my primary point here, I was just trying to take a view of position groups to see where the Bears improved or got worse and see if I'm right in my assessments.

It's just relying on a lot of hopes and ifs IMO. Last year's draft was probably one of the most impactful drafts the Bears have ever had. Coincidentally, every impactful player was offensive right after we hired an offensive mastermind at HC. (though worth pointing out they only picked 2 defensive guys, not Poles' fault Turner got hurt, but Hyppolite was an insane pick). The previous few drafts were very hit or miss. The draft will definitely help us improve but I don't know how much we can count on from it, for next year at least. The offense should get better, Jaylon and Kyler healthy should be a huge boost (IF they can stay healthy..), but we're also talking about a team that had 7 comebacks in the last 2 minutes of games and benefitted from an huge TO differential (some skill involved but part is often luck) and one of the easiest schedules in the league. I think we needed to see the team improve more via FA to offset those factors and I don't think we're presently a better team than we were 2 months ago. We'll see, I could end up being completely wrong on pretty much all of this.

(Understanding there is still the draft and maybe more FA) QB: Same RB: Same WR: Worse TE: Slightly worse without Smythe but not super impactful Tackles: Worse Guards; Same Center: Worse DT: maybe slightly better DE: Same, still bad LB: Worse but incomplete CB: Worse Safety: Incomplete, Bryant an upgrade but still down a starter KR: Better Rest of ST: same

Soooo....Miami OH knocked out of the MAC tournament for a Q4 loss. One of the wilder resumes I've seen. In or out? 31-1 (NCAA only counts 28-1 as 3 wins were against non-D1 teams) NET: 54 NET SOS: 340th Q1 Record: 0-0 Q2 Record: 2-0 Q3 Record: 11-0 Q4 Record: 15-1 KenPom: 90th BPI: 90th T-Rank: 85th SOR: 21st WAB (NCAA relied on this a lot last year): 33rd I'm going to guess that they get in and play in Dayton, seems like a fair compromise to make them play another bubble team to prove they belong in the field of 64 since they only played 1 game against a team with a NET ranking below 127th (Akron at home, 53rd).

The tiebreaker after H2H is “runs allowed/outs recorded”. So if the game extends, the team will record more outs and thus their ratio will get smaller, eventually with enough outs passing the US

Social media says that Mexico would have to win in a game lasting into the 14th inning for the US to be eliminated at this point. I was kind of hoping that Mexico would win with like 6-7 (edit: horsefeathers) runs scoring meaning those 2 PCA HRs made the difference in the US advancing, but this is fine too.

Optimal scenario is Mexico is up 4-0 in the 9th, has clearly punted the last couple of innings to stick it to the US, then Italy scores 5 in the 9th to win.

USA will still probably lose but those 4 runs are huge. These tiebreakers are confusing but I think they would need Mexico to score 6 runs if they win (or of course an Italy win). Without those 2 bombs they would need Mexico to score 10

I dont think it has to be Crosby but if the Bears don't walk into next season with at least a very good Edge I'll be very disappointed. Not a draft pick (though I'd add one with one of those 2nds too), an established edge. Maybe I'm setting myself up for disappointment

Now that is something that would likely interest the Raiders if thats the route they go Really wish they had those comp picks...not as trade bait but additional resources that would help us overcome the potential loss of draft picks in a trade.

They haven't even restructured any contracts yet. I would assume restructures plus Dalman's salary off the books would have allowed them to spend on a center.

It's possible they didn't want Moore and/or his salary. I think a lot of the speculation about the player added was somewhat due to needing to shed salary in the deal. That said the Bears didn't really get draft picks that would make the offer significantly more attractive without a player. Who knows, we'll see how it plays out.

I think you spend on one of those positions and address the other in the draft. If we don't leave the offseason without a pro bowl caliber Edge I'll be disappointed. Our OL was a huge plus for us last year and I would obviously like to keep that but our DL was our biggest weakness. Has to be addressed. Just sucks, if Ozzy didnt get hurt and Dalman didn't retire we're locked in there. Ozzy's injury is bad enough that we can't even look for a stopgap at LT, we need to think long term because we can't assume he will ever be healthy enough to play at a high level again.

Why? I haven't seen how much the Bills are taking on in terms of salary but this likely helps clear up the salary issue. The Raiders likely didnt want to take on Moore's contract, so we found another suitor. We'll see.
