I think even the most patient fans are starting to lose that patience with Bregman.

PCA has not looked great the last few games. Hopefully just a small bump for him.

No official news release yet but some pretty reputable soccer guys are reporting Lewandowski has chosen to sign with the Fire after weeks of speculation. He may not be in his prime, and attack might not have been the position the Fire most need but he's still been very good in Europe and will bring some needed visibility to the Fire franchise and enthusiasm to the fan base - particularly the huge Polish population here. I'm guessing the hype for this will be somewhere in between Messi going to Miami and Son going to LAFC.

Yeah, though the fact that they're playing in Azteca (for the R16 too against England) is probably a big advantage for them. They can be beaten there but in general it has a way of leveling Mexico up. England especially is going to have an interesting time there if they both advance. England's historical World Cup stumbles + playing a host team in a notoriously difficult Latin American stadium = trouble.

The wild thing is there was no incentive really for Algeria to score. They had full control of the ball and Austria was not making any attempt to get the ball back. By scoring Algeria temporarily put themselves in a match against Spain in the R32 instead of Switzerland. Austria bailed them out and theirselves out by equalizing.

Absolutely insane. So far the 2 craziest games have been late night matches. I feel bad for Iran, that’s gotta be brutal

Ok disregard Peterson being one of the biggest ground ball pitchers facing the team that hits the most ground balls. He’s a Cub now so HRs galore followed by a 2 month injury

If it makes you feel better Peterson is a big ground ball pitcher and the Brewers are dead last in fly ball rate.

Just curious, if this was your pitching staff (healthy obviously) where would you place it amongst MLB pitching staffs? fringe top 10? Obviously some of this would never be a reality, like Ben Brown probably doesn't get a shot to start unless 2-3 guys were out, Shelby Miller was signed knowing he was hurt, etc. but still

If anyone is still up, the end of this Egypt-Iran match has been some of the best action of the tournament so far. Can’t eveN do it justice but lots of swings back and forth as Belgium and Egypt were going back and forth for 1st place, then Iran thought they jumped Egypt with a stoppage time goal, only to be called offsides several minutes later. Then Iran had 2-3 really great chances in the final minutes but couldn’t put one in. Iran is still alive for 3rd place but nothing guaranteed.

Geez I knew Misiorowski was doing good but didn’t realize he’s only given up 3 runs in his last 9 starts, going 7+ innings deep in 5 of those starts. That’s 2015 Arrieta level. Hopefully we light him up.
