lmao that Shaw should have struck out on a ball call that was so bad that neither the pitcher or catcher challenged it in time because they were waiting for the strike call that never came, but instead he homered. -

Why did they change the tiebreaker rules to focus on head-to-head results instead of the traditional GD, GA, GF format? Just wondering if it has something to do with the new format and making ensuring that teams tied for 2nd and 3rd have their H2H decide who automatically advances and who has to be one of the top 8 3rd place teams. Just makes it more difficult to just look at the table to tell who needs to do what to advance. Now you have to remember who beat who etc while trying to figure it out. /rant

Geez, I had to turn off Switzerland vs Bosnia in the 73rd minute because of a work call. It was 0-0 at the time. I missed 5 goals and a red card during those 25ish minutes.

Even in a good offensive day they manage to squander 1st and 2nd, 0 outs and 1st and 3rd with 1 out situation

In the first 2 games of both of their series vs the Rockies the Cubs were 1-30 with RISP In the final games of each series they are 8-11 with RISP

This is the kind of game where you look at their season BA with RISP and wonder why it’s so high. 4-4 so far today with a sac fly after 3-39 stretch the last several games

Jason Kipnis on the postgame show (I think) apparently had some pretty damning things to say about the Cubs hitting preparation, Edward Cabrera asking to come out of the game with his hand cramp, lack of leadership in the clubhouse. The latter 2 seem harder to confirm as I don’t think he’s really around the team that much but the hitting stuff is interesting. The screenshot is one piece of it edit; looks like I was beaten by a minute lol

If it weren’t for 3 comebacks in the 9th inning the Cubs would be 1-12 during a stretch of home games against the Astros, A’s, Giants and Rockies

It’s like a runner gets in scoring position and everything changes. The vibe changes, players get tight, bad decisions are made. It’s in their heads at this point.

Yep, I’ve met many like you in the 23 years here. There are several optimists. Several pessimists. Several people that fluctuate based on the overall trends of the team. Many that get heated in game threads and then are some of the most level headed posters outside of game threads. Doesn’t seem much different than any other message board I’ve been on. also welcome to the board!

Ok I think I found it, the Cubs have scored a runner from 3rd and less than 2 outs 42.3% of the time, last in baseball The MLB average seems to be 52%. So if they were league average they’d have roughly 18 more runs scored this year. If any of my logic is faulty let me know.
