  1. Damn, wish Conforto could have scored on that 2 out double.
  2. He’s really not bad on the whole. But always liable to have games like this especially in a terrible matchup with a HR hitting team and in optimal hitting conditions.
  3. Predictable. Shaw should have had the first one and they should have challenged ball 4 on the second hitter
  4. Damn how has Davis Martin been so good? Here are his 8 starts this year: 5 IP, 3 ER 6 IP, 0 ER 7 IP, 2 ER 7 IP, 1 ER 6.1 IP, 1 ER 5.2 IP, 1 ER 7 IP, 0 ER 6 IP, 1 ER Pitching deep into games and allowing 0 or 1 ER in most of his starts.
  5. Yes Cabrera has been rough but I am almost certain he will be locked in by the end of the year. Cubs pitching infrastructure will harness his stuff.
  6. Not exactly the kind of win that gives you hope the Cubs offensive slump is turning but I’ll take any win we can get. Onto the South Side.
  7. Throwing Maton back out there in a 1 run game after yesterday is certainly bold.
  8. Weird time to say that after he hit a 103 MPH line drive with a .640 xBA with a RISP and 2 outs. He’s also been worth close to 1 win this year despite not putting it together at the plate. Hes always been a streaky hitter so I’m not too concerned.
  9. The Cubs are averaging 0.66 runs per 9 innings over their last 41 innings
  10. That’s how its going this week for the Cubs. Strike out on a checked swing and a well hit ball swung a fraction of a second too early.
  11. Meh we'll see how the season plays out. Before last season you would have thought several of the games on their schedule would be harder than expected (MIN, @ MIN, DAL, @ WAS, @ BAL, @ CIN, PIT). Could see something similar this year.
  12. Never as good as you are at your best, never as bad as you are at your worst. Just hate that we have the Sox this weekend. Will be annoying if they win the series.
  13. Can you imagine if Shota didn’t accept the qualifying offer and was currently doing this for another team while all our pitchers arms are randomly falling off?
  14. For those tracking, that’s 1 hit in their last 13 innings
  15. Man I feel like it's Groundhog Day. We've probably had this discussion every year this board has been around. Every team slumps, every team surges, but not many teams surge like the stretch the Cubs just finished.
  16. What was your favorite Cubs hit today? I think it was Bregman’s HR for me but I’d consider other suggestions.
  17. My favorite Boozer moment was when he celebrated an And 1 by punching a ref in the stomach
  18. I didn't hate Boozer. He was as advertised...below average athletic big that can't play defense but was a big body who could score and hit a jumper. Any disappointment I had about him was due to the fact that he was the consolation prize in the LeBron/Wade/Bosh sweepstakes. All that said, if his son is anything like his father in terms of traits and skills, I'm not terribly excited about him. If he's more explosive and athletic I feel a little better about him.
