taking shota out for garbage ass maton was so egregiously stupid counsell basically apologized for it after the game. as embarrassing as it is, rolison might be the cubs best reliever right now. he threw one pitch in the 6th and the cubs had 9 outs left to get with Roberts/thielbar/webb (all of whom have sucked lately) and Thornton/Milner, neither of whom have been great lately and whose success has been based on some smoke and mirrors. handedness be damned, I’m trying to squeeze more than one pitch out of maybe the best reliever they have when the rest of the pen is varying degrees of garbage/shakiness.

you won’t remember this ******/brutal loss because there have been so many ******/brutal losses.

second time this week counsell has a made a very obvious at the time bad bullpen decision. thought managing the pen was, like, his thing.

I thought Nico’s first pitch swinging 70 mph dribbler was bad, but it turned out to be the best of the bunch!

hoyer’s three big offseason pick ups were bregman, cabrera and maton. truly hard to horsefeathers up that bad.

bregman has to lead mlb in infield pop outs.

the only “wonders” involving horton is me wondering whether he’ll ever throw 50 innings in a season.
