hoyer’s three big offseason pick ups were bregman, cabrera and maton. truly hard to horsefeathers up that bad.

Yeah, 100%.  For the money, Bregman should be one of the best hitters, if not the best.  I'm still OK with Cabrera, because I didn't have high expectation.  But, Maton and Harvey are totally useless.  The cheaper pen guys like Webb and Rolison have been so much better.

Jed has told us every year how stupid it is to devote resources to the bullpen and by only doing so with utter catastrophes like Maton, Ryan Pressly and Hector Neris, he proves himself right over and over again

"the plan" might need some wiggle room

it’s stupid for HIM to do that because he sucks at his job.

Yeah, to me, Maton has been this year's Pressly, except he has a two year contract, which really sucks.  At least, he got rid of Pressly and Neris in the middle of the season.  I don't think he'd do that for Maton, although I think he should.  The Cubs pen depends on luck.  We need another guy like 2024 version of Porter Hodge, last year's Keller, Pomeranz, Thielbar....,.

This is just who the Cubs are this year.

With that said, I am starting to become less invested in the season with every passing injury or Bregman weak at bat.

I heard Caleb threw a ball 75 yards in the air while sitting on the crapper.  Definitely losing interest in the Cubs this year.

Jason Kipnis on the postgame show (I think) apparently had some pretty damning things to say about the Cubs hitting preparation, Edward Cabrera asking to come out of the game with his hand cramp, lack of leadership in the clubhouse.  The latter 2 seem harder to confirm as I don’t think he’s really around the team that much but the hitting stuff is interesting.

The screenshot is one piece of it

A 9th inning comeback being  the only thing keeping the Cubs from having lost 4 out of 5 against the Rockies.

5-6 with 1 game remaining in a 12 game stretch against the two worst teams in the NL.

Through 2 games the Cubs have posted .7 fWAR with a 135 wRC+ and 826 OPS. The Rockies have posted -.2 with a 73 wRC+ and a 633 OPS. The series is tied through 2 games while the Rockies have a +2 run differential. That’s impressive horsefeathers.

Equally impressive how they’ve gone almost 6 weeks without a win at Wrigley without a walk off or a win by more than 1 run against teams.

Nico and Dansby in a tight race for the worst hitters in the NL since May 10.
