I approve of this slate of games. Hopefully the games deliver.

They have the names on offense but the production isn't there. Ohtani is hurt. .889 OPS for the year but .772 in the second half. Freeman had a .792 OPS this year. Betts had a .780 OPS this year. Tucker had a .715 OPS this year. In years past you'd look at starting with Ohtani-Betts-Freeman and it's daunting. Then you have the rest of the guys after who were decent. But now, they've got a bunch of fine hitters, but nobody that terrifies you. They're not a bad offense by any means. But there's a drop off for sure. Basic measurement but, 906 runs in 2023, 842 in 2024, 825 in 2025, 801 in 2026.

I understand why the balk rule exists, but the nitpicky parts like "oh he flinched the tiniest bit" need to go away. Maybe I don't fully understand the rule (so correct me if I'm wrong) but I didn't see anything on the Mis balk call. EDIT: Especially when lefties get away with so much worse, like Vesia just did.

Boy the Commanders are dumb. They have the ball at the NY 26 with a 1st and 10, 55 seconds left and no timeouts. They run the ball for 2 yards. No clue why they didn’t just kick it there since you don’t need to run the clock (both teams already had the ball). But whatever. Then with 13 seconds left and have Daniels run it to I assume get the ball where the kicker wanted it. But again, no timeouts so the clock runs out and they tie without attempting a FG.

Watching Man City-Liverpool and I feel a little bad for the City players, or at least as bad as you can feel for a group of millionaires. They get all the abuse but they had nothing to do with the financial cheating. This isn't guys taking steroids or the Astros banging on trash cans. I get that the fans are upset and are going to boo, and the ownership group isn't out there to be booed, so the only people they can boo are the players.

That was a bad missed call on the non PI in the end zone, especially since they called Alabama for the same thing earlier in the game. EDIT: And maybe I don't understand the targeting rule, but how did Georgia not get flagged for it on the hit on Ryan Coleman Williams? Is it because the WR was going down while getting tackled? Because the Georgia DB definitely led with the crown of the helmet.

Shaw gives Bentancur a two handed shove that knocks him to the ground, gets in his face, is 50-50 on initiating the head to head contact and yet Bentancur is the only one who gets sent off for very slightly moving his head forward? Come on. Want to send them both off? Sure. But if anyone should have gotten sent off it’s Shaw. He was the aggressor. He chased Bentancur down specifically to shove him to the ground.

I liked when they showed the first view, facing the fence, where you couldn't tell at all if it was going to go out, the announcers were like "well, that looks like a home run". Then when they showed the side view, where it clearly wasn't going out they were forced to backtrack.
