  1. They're freshman so you never know how they're going to contribute, but adding someone else on top of Coleman and Morillo seems like overkill. I guess a real PG would be a nice thing to have but there just aren't any real holes in the roster right now
  2. I definitely agree that there were no good options there, but I don't think it's as cut and dry as you're making it out to be. My only real argument is that these run expectancies are calculated with generic MLB player at the plate based on the millions of times these situations have happened over 100+ years and don't account for a guy who's been a top 10 MLB player for going on 3 years now being at the plate. Is he prime Albert Pujols? No, but he's the best hitter in the Cubs lineup right now and if I was the manager in the other dugout, I think I'm going another route to not let that guy beat me.
  3. The people who gripe about Boog have clearly never spent any amount of time listening to other team's announcers that aren't the Dodgers, Mets, or Yankees. They're mostly just not good and some are downright unlistenable like whatever slop the Cardinals are throwing out there of late.
  4. Nico really needs to stop hitting those damn fly balls.
  5. Yeah, I don't think the system he runs needs a pure PG when everyone on the floor passes as well as most of these guys do.
  6. Which is weird considering how we heard about him taking a more CF oriented approach in the spring.
  7. Careful with his name and the exclamation point. I did a double take. 😂
  8. Yeah, with the Horton injury and how he developed last year, then essentially ran out of innings at the end of the year, it wouldn't surprise me if we see him going like 2 innings at a crack for a month or two. Then, ramp him up in June, assuming he's a viable big league option at that point, so you have him as a rotation possibility for the playoffs and you're not worried about how many innings he's thrown this season. It's certainly possible it's an injury but that would be some odd phrasing if that's the case.
  9. His career K rate is 26.5%. His best full season K rate is 22.1%. What you're citing here is a 22.2% K rate, which is pretty hilarious to cite as a concern when it would nearly equal his best season ever. People are just irrational about Happ and it cracks me up.
  10. The under the hood/peripherals from last year say he was far from sucking. There's a reason a smart team like the Dodgers kept running him out there.
  11. I think the shooting issues for both Michigan and Illinois were a function of the offense UConn runs. They're so much more active than most of the teams they play and don't run near as much of the high screen and roll that's so prevalent in college basketball right now. All that chasing on defense really takes a toll on your legs and impacts shooting on the other end, even the layups. I also think the amount of contact allowed in those 2 games was absolutely criminal. The championship game especially was just a rugby match and the refs didn't set the tone early in either game to reduce the amount of grabbing and pushing. Something I'd really like to see them do that UConn got away with constantly is the pushing off while driving with the off arm. It was really obvious pretty frequently and never once did it get called.
  12. Lotta pop ups and warning track power so far. Frustrating, especially when the defense is letting them down too.
  13. It was crazy how every shot that rimmed seemed to bounce out for Illinois and in for UConn. The shooting just wasn't good enough and they were absolutely getting good looks. My biggest issue with the game was that Illinois never figured out how to defend that double screen for the wing 3 and UConn hit 3 or 4 of those because they were wide open.
  14. Maddon trying to redefine a dirty inning to justify when he brought Lester in is just comical.
