  1. As noted during the broadcast by Boog and JD, Kelly was throwing almost a full 2 mph harder than he has all year, so the Cubs weren't seeing the same guy who has the 5+ ERA on the season last night.
  2. Civale really bailed them out yesterday after Shota's poor performance. Pretty rare to have the entire pen save one guy available the next day after only getting 2 IP from the starter.
  3. Kirby horsefeathers the bed in the first inning yesterday and was out after 3.1 against the Brewers. He threw almost 40 pitches in the first and they hit at least 3 five hoppers that went for hits. It was infuriating to watch in person.
  4. Fortunately for him, his MAGA ass probably doesn't have much brain function to lose.
  5. Honestly, that's one of the few reasons I would actually buy. That horsefeathers is a powerful drug that melts people's brains.
  6. Tolle should get the AL award just because he's hilarious.
  7. Kenny Lofton definitely came to mind for me, but the BA he carried most of his career is probably 40 points higher than what Kepley can hope to do. Some of that is skill, some of that is just the way the game is today. If you look at Lofton's 2002 season where he went .261 .350 .414 .763 with 11 HRs, that seems like a reasonable expectation to me.
  8. A lot of speculation that he never fully recovered from the oblique injury. I'd bet he's been compensating for that all season and a healthy offseason gets him back to good, but he probably never sees last season's heights again.
  9. It's actually not in bad shape. I was watching the game yesterday and the Padres broadcast team said all their main guys were down on Monday from pitching over the weekend, then they got blown out Tuesday, so everyone was available yesterday. Megill was the only guy who went more than an inning, but he only threw 15 pitches. Ashby might be down today because he threw 24, but they're probably mostly okay. Hopefully the Dodgers can beat them up some more over the weekend.
  10. Yeah, that's a relief pitcher number and much like PCA, he needs a fast guy number.
  11. His ground ball rate has ticked back up the last few starts and as long as he keeps doing that with this defense behind him, he'll be fine. He's not going to be Cy Young caliber, but giving them innings, keeping them close, and not taxing the pen is enough at this point.
  12. Well, it's the Uehleins, so it likely would have gone directly to making sure brown people and the gays are as persecuted as possible, so let's just be thankful it was diverted from much worse causes. That family is absolutely awful and I wish people would stop buying stuff from U-Line, which is their company.
  13. Cubs seem to be up against TBD pretty frequently lately. Post TDL is so weird for a few weeks.
  14. Is that like one boob out or.......?
