There's plenty of nightlife, it's just scattered throughout the city instead of concentrated downtown. This is also very much due to Covid, not that downtown STL was some crazy exciting place before that, but it's completely dead now outside of Ballpark Village.

As much as I hate to defend STL in any way, this is a bridge too far. I wouldn't recommend living there, but it's a terrific city to visit, especially if you have kids. The zoo, science center, and City Museum are all fantastic places to visit, there's a ton of great food that doesn't get the publicity the terrible stuff does (pizza, gooey butter cake, toasted ravioli), and you're not going to find a city with better beer anywhere. There are probably 5 breweries in STL that make what would be the best beer in just about any other major metro area.

Bullpen of death, 6 guys with a 119 OPS+ or better, and enough starting pitching did the trick for them. Wade Davis had an ERA+ of 448. That's just comical.

I'm not sure they ever really will because of the nature of reaction times. Once the ball is moving at a certain speed and you have to commit to swing (or not), there's a limit to what hitters are capable of.

I have a good friend who grew up in Pleasant Prairie and is a Cubs and Packers fan, but that probably has more to do with the fact that he was like 9 or 10 during the summer of Sammy in 1998 and that was also peak Brett Favre era. I was shocked at how many female Packers fans around my age there are in STL and I can only attribute that to Favre as well.

My only gripe with this is that you haven't accounted for the fact that these people (I'm allowed to say that because I live in Milwaukee now 😜) are also Packers fans and therefore scum of the earth. Milwaukee is objectively a cool town and light years ahead of STL in every way though.

That's just not accurate. They use the current day value of those dollars to do the LT calculation, which is why Ohtani counts for like $38 million against the cap instead of the annual average of $70 million the contract comes out to before factoring in deferrals.

Yeah, they definitely know what's coming and it may just be that they're incredible at picking up pitchers tipping, because they didn't have a chance against Snell early and maybe they saw something in game.

The Rays altered his arm slot and had him throw the slider less. Mechanical tweaks explain most of the resurgence and the drop in slider usage explains most of the rest of it. As usual, the Mets are terrible at everything.

I've never seen a team hit more bloops and soft ground balls that go for hits than these guys. It's absolutely insane. It does make me wonder if the article I read a while ago that was talking about how many more ground balls they hit than most teams negates the shifts teams use against them and accounts for the "luck" they seem to have with low EV hits. Couple that with the opposing teams committing more errors against them than any other team in MLB and suddenly you start seeing some explanations for their offense. Now, Contreras is just scorching hot right now and I hope they decide to peg him for that stopping horsefeathers while rounding the bases on a homer. I have no problem with guys celebrating but that's just so ridiculous and inflammatory and I'd be embarrassed if a guy on the team I root for was doing it.

Are there any huge changes to what he was doing prior to coming to the Brewers that explain the huge jump in productivity? Like a jump in bat speed or did he just do the Brewers thing and stop swinging at pitches? It's such a stark difference that I'm leery of the numbers without a data driven explanation.

Ben had a really bad day calling plays. The jet sweeps in short yardage were just awful.
