I usually feel confident the Cubs could scratch across a couple of runs against a bad bullpen.  Kind of hard to do with a lineup containing 4 automatic outs at the top.

They’re toast.

I thought the Brewers had a harder schedule after the break, but this week disproves that

It's a good thing we don't determine strength of schedule for 2 months based on 6 games.

Both teams have 3 vs Tor and 3 vs NYM. Cubs have 7 vs Cincy and Mil has 6. Milwaukee also plays 3 against Philly and 3 against San Diego. Cubs also have 3 more against the Rockies while the Brewers are done with them.

Yup, offense doing exactly as expected.

Offense isn’t going to bail out a BP implosion.  Sucks, but root cause isn’t the O today.

Those were a couple meatballs from Caleb, right over the heart

His curve had NO bit today and was minor league bad so what do they do? Hangs one right in the zone for the game winner. His fastball was fine at 94 mph....and he gets beat with that weak s.hit.

They are not the biggest issue, but don't kid yourself,  3 runs against the pitchers they faced is terrible

I don’t disagree.  What happened to Suzuki, holy crap.

They share equal blame when you have to hold any team to 2 runs for a W.

It doesn't matter who the Brewers play, assuming they don't pull a Cubs, they'll improve to 47-15 over their last 62 games, playing at a 119-43 pace for 40% of the season.  Good teams, bad teams, doesn't matter.

No argument there 83....I've said for about 3 weeks now it's obvious they're better than us as things stand currently. Rogers looks better than Thielbar BTW...sure glad Craig is loyal. It's noble but in this case a losing proposition.

Can anyone tell me why Keller wasn’t in? Was he actually burned in Milwaukee throwing a useless extra inning?

Because the top of the Orioles lineup is super lefty heavy. Henderson has a 67 wRC+ against lefties and Thielbar crushes lefties this year to the tune of a .147 wOBA.

It's bad luck but it wasn't a bad call. In fact, it was easily the right call. It was just the wrong outcome, which can happen even when you make the right call. Henderson is an MLB hitter and a good one at that. Thielbar is a human. Sometimes the 1 of 100 happens.

I just came into this thread to post this exact thing:

Brewers have the Nats this weekend and also SL/PIt/Arizona this month as well. Granted, they have 4 against the Cubs too but in NO way do we have an easier schedule than they do...its not really close. They have a much easier sched. in August.

The Cubs also get to play St Louis and Pittsburgh in August. While we don't get Arizona, we have 3 against the Angels and 3 against the Rockies.

I assume the question was, why wasn't Keller pitching instead of Brazier?
