having flashbacks to 2018 hearing all this "the Brewers will inevitably hit a slump" stuff as they continue to win

Yeah I don’t think it’s happening anymore.  Need to focus on maintaining the wild card and trying to keep guys healthy.

If they continue like this, might as well miss the playoffs completely, instead of getting there to be humiliated even worse it’

its definitely possible in this national league.

Who were the real orioles last season, the team that started 49-25 or the team that finished 91-71? This is so confusing.

I don't know, but the 2025 post-TDL Orioles suck. The only guy in their lineup who is scary won the game today.

Yeah, that's a fact: did you see O'Neill stand there in utter dismay that his ball to left field didn't go out? I thought it was gone off the bat. Bully sucks, again what do they expect with all the washed up rejects in it? One or two reclamation projects is fine but 4 or 5? It's clownish.

Jed has yet to piece together a good BP.  The suckage continues.  Today was 5th win flipped to a loss after 7th inning.  We will be here at the end of September wondering what might have been.

I don’t pin this on pitching, it was about the bats being completely ineffective against bad pitching - Sugano.  The top of the order hit, what, two balls hard?  It’s not  as if Sugano didn’t give them multiple chances.  Collectively they couldn’t hit water if they fell out of a boat. It’s been like this for over a month, amazing they haven’t lost more games.

I'll give it up to the Bears, they might be totally inept and as poorly run as the Cubs, but they seem to be the one team in this city that actually cares about winning

This team will be fighting too hold onto the 3rd wildcard. The Cubs will probably play 500 the rest of the way as currently constructed. I believe they have a 3 game lead in wildcard. Ask yourself are there 2/3 teams behind them that can knock them out of playoffs? I believe the answer is highly probable

Outside of Colorado and Washington, I don't see any series for the rest of the year where I would bet the Cubs win 2 out of 3. Many are winnable (or sweepable), but I have zero confidence this team will dominate the likes of St Louis, Pittsburgh, Anaheim, etc.

If the  Cubs make the playoffs and that’s not a given it will be as the 3rd wildcard team. Mets and Phillies are better teams. They will not win the central and most likely fighting off the Reds for final spot. Watch!

Sounds a lot like previous years.  Wheels come off down the stretch.

Well, we aren’t there yet so here’s hoping this group can get back on track.  It wouldn’t take much.  Need a couple guys to come out of their slump.  Right now it seems all of our top bats are struggling at the same time and BP meltdowns like today just won’t cut it.  Too many other teams won’t have that.  I consider the division to be unlikely but we can still make the playoffs.

This might be the most depressing place on the internet right now. Come on guys

one of these MLB seasons we’ll learn how to handle the peaks and valleys.

Maybe... But probably not.  There's a long way to go between where they are right now, and fighting for the last Wild Card spot.

This is collectively insane. We're one pitch away from being 16-10 since July 1. We have to settle for 15-11 and people are talking about the Cardinals (the horsefeathers 8-16 in July Cardinals) catching us. Christ.

We're -188 to win tomorrows game (and therefore the series), so theoretically you can add that to the list. FG has us at between 59% and 64% win probabilities for each game against the Reds, so that looks good too. The Pirates where we miss Skenes didn't make the list? What are we doing here

You know it is possible they’ll come out their collective slumps and play better?  It doesn’t have to always be the worst outcome.  Although with Tucker put him on the horsefeathers IL already, get his finger healed. Call up Cassie - this kind horsefeathers works for the horsefeathers Brewers why can’t it work for the Cubs?

This team has scored 4 runs in 2 games against horrible pitching. What makes you think facing the Pirates will be any better
