  1. Have to agree, if Peralta came with more seasons of control, probably. But, for a few months? No way.
  2. And of course, he's merely human vs. the rest of the NL Central. Appears a good deal of his big numbers vs. the Cubs are Wrigley Field driven. Well, at least from a power standpoint, 7 of his 11 career HR's vs. the Cubs at Wrigley.
  3. You mean next week? Do think he was traded to the Rangers for this weekend. Seriously though, when has that dipshit NOT hit the Cubs hard?
  4. Add Luke Little to that mix, if he could start throwing mainly strikes, it would help stabilize the bullpen.
  5. I remember that game, in the table above appears as a dominating start yet, the Cubs were crushing the ball.
  6. With the exception of the start last August, appears the Cubs have generated a good amount of traffic on the bases. Just haven't been able to cash much of those base runners in.
  7. You're not off base, lots of things to dislike, horsefeathers 2004, didn't Willy Mo Pena pull some throw out of his ass to help beat the Cubs that season as well?
  8. No doubt Grichuk is a scrub's scrub, nevertheless, there's something about the Reds that annoys the horsefeathers out of me. Friedl, Steer and Stephenson are irritating, it's not because they're exceptional, all about average players, just get under the skin. It was great to see the Cubs beat them in such a soul-crushing-kick-in-balls manner.
  9. ABS challenges or not, umpires need to removed from calling balls and strikes period.
  10. Soooo close to a strip sack, looks even better in slow-motion. Jarrett drawing a double on that play was big.
  11. Many of us have bitched about Poles ignoring EDGE and the D-line perhaps, rightly so. Just for shits and giggles I re-watched some of the regular season and post season games vs. GB, I noticed Montez was a monster in those games. On several occasions he destroyed the right side of their line, put heat on Love/Willis* and was a problem for them. I attribute some of this to Booker being on the field and ,the health, or, at least, the return of Gordon and Johnson. My point is, Dayo' motivation notwithstanding, with health (Booker, Gordon, Johnson), we'll probably see this version of Montez. If we do, it'll go a long way towards making the Bears defense average-above average which is all that'll be necessary. *My favorite - https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/1psirhh/highlight_montez_sweat_ran_over_the_tackle_for/
  12. All the Cubs need is a short term dude, that's possible.
  13. Vasquez isn't good and the Cubs have been hitting him hard, at least for this game, the optimism might be warranted.
  14. Appears the Padres are the opposite of Dodgers - stay away from the bullpen, make sure you have the lead going into the late innings. Whereas, the Dodgers, you want to get into their bullpen.
  15. Agreed. Beyond this draft, as many have said, it must be by design to not prioritize the D-line with higher picks. Booker and, to some extent, Dexter, may change a little of the narrative of Poles completely ignoring the D-line via the draft.
