  1. First game of this series as well, Cubs smoked several balls with nothing to show. It's baseball, we all knew the Cubs being on bad end of batted ball luck was going to stop at some point.
  2. Apparently, Kyler Gordon was in attendance, going through drills.
  3. It's probably best to remove Wiggins, Horton and Steele from the equation and thought process altogether. Focus on who's actually healthy and playing, if, by some miracle, either of them make it back, great. Still not worth the effort to count on guys who can't stay available.
  4. For certain they've been missing on meat balls, how many times has Suzuki rolled over hanging breaking balls? Seems like every at bat he gets pitches to crush and makes a feeble out. It's not like their facing high quality pitching. They didn't vs Houston and haven't against Pittsburgh, just not hitting anything period.
  5. We know back injuries effectively ended the career of Bryant, this poor kid hasn't even had a career and is already dealing with a back injury. What's concerning is the Cubs saying, in March, his injury would delay his season for a month. It's been 2+ months and he's no where to found, almost as if he doesn't exist.
  6. Saw some video of him, looked good, with stuff popping, not your seemingly typical Cub soft tosser spinner of the ball.
  7. A bit of hot take based upon my dislike of Vegas. Don't think you can discount the toll injuries took on Colorado. MacKinnon was just a shadow of himself after blocking a shot in game 3. Makar was pretty ineffective as well, he tried, just too banged up to make a difference.
  8. Wrote in another thread, back injuries are very serious and fickle, there might be a better chance Conrad' done before he ever got started.
  9. Given the current state of things for the Cubs. It wouldn't surprise if the next updates on Conrad and Wiggins are they're suffered further injury setbacks. Nothing, absolutely nothing is going well, the chances of Conrad or Wiggins even seeing the field this season grow slimmer and slimmer with each passing day. Back injuries are really serious and fickle. think there's a better chance Conrad is done for good than him getting back on the field.
  10. Okay, I'm changing my bold prediction of Cubs winning a game this week to Suzuki getting another hit this season. Can he put up an 0-100 before that next hit?
  11. I believe its a part injuries and the Vegas defense, them being banged up is the bigger factor. Don't understand how a team with marginal talent is in the finals yet, the Blackhawks are light years away from a winning season.
  12. Sooner or later the Cubs are going to catch a break, baseball, being the random game that is, means the not every two out bloop by the opposition is going to find a hole for multiple RBI's. Or every hard hit ball by Cubs is going to find a glove. In addition to PCA' three with EV's north of 100, didn't several Cubs' hitters crush a balls yesterday with little to no results? Just ain't going to keep happening well, for, at least, one game.
  13. Given Wiggins inability to stay healthy enough to actually pitch why would he have much interest from other teams?
  14. While I believe Bregman, Happ and Suzuki will come around, I do not believe that of Swanson. Dude is either hurt or he's toast, can't even manage solid contact when he miraculously puts the ball in play. Has no business being any where near the lineup, he needs an IL stint, benched, something away from the Cubs lineup.
  15. PCA had one of hardest 0-fer's today, all balls, even the pop up at 96+ EV, 3 of them 100+ EV - that's just rotten luck. Right now if the Cubs didn't have bad luck they wouldn't have any luck at all. Super bold prediction - the Cubs will win a game this week.
  16. Swanson needs to be benched plain and simple.
  17. I think drafting someone who, could, like, actually play would be a monumental improvement. Who knows about Conrad, it's been 2+ months since the Cubs said a back injury was going to delay him for a month. Back injuries effectively ended Bryant' career, Conrad may be done before he ever got started. Hell, be completely radical and draft some pitchers with velocity, instead of a bunch of soft tossing spinners of the ball.
  18. For me the most frustrating aspect of this slump is watching the Cubs swing through or roll over the plethora of meat balls they've seen. I guess that's the definition of a slump. We know it's not going to last forever, at some point, Bregman, Suzuki and Happ are going to positively regress. For our sake, I hope it's soon.
  19. Man, it sucks Vegas is going to end up in the final. Makar banged up, MacKinnon rendered ineffective after blocking a shot in the 2nd period. To top it off the Avalanche blow a 3-0 lead. Game tied by a BS player scoring a BS goal. Doesn't help that Wedgewood keeps letting in soft goals.
  20. I did the same last year when they went into their 2+ month slump, might be for the best to ignore them for a while. Maybe even for the remainder of the season.
  21. Counsell' going to put Swanson and Happ back in the lineup tomorrow isn't he? After, without them, they scored more runs in a game than the previous 5? I'd like Swanson, Happ and Suzuki to sit for a while, don't know exactly how long but, for more than a game.
  22. Really frustrating, all three of these Astros' pitchers are extremely hit-able and throwing some meatballs the Cubs can't touch.
  23. Yeah, Suzuki needs to sit for a while or, at the very least, next game.
