Yes, I think it'd be a mistake to let some team buy low on Shaw.

Off field nonsense aside I believe we've not seen the best of Shaw. There's a quality hitter in there and given the time it'll rise to the surface.

I'd rather it be the Guardians who end their WS drought however, I think it's going to be the Brewers. Clearly the best team and I do not believe it's close. Even though painful, I look upon the Brewers winning the WS as good outcome for the Cubs. Good in the sense that their efforts are going to take a toll, the over use of some of their relievers will eventually show up in the coming seasons. I know, I know, the argument of their farm system making any breakdowns irrelevant, I refuse to believe in the myth of the Brewers having 10 Uribe's and 10 Asby's ready to step in, they may have one or two. But they sure as sh*t don't have an endless source of top relievers.

Great article. I don't know, the Cubs are lacking in raw stuff, if I'm reading correctly Taira is more guile than raw stuff. Shouldn't the Cubs being trying to move away from this model?

Agree on Milwaukee, only been through St. Louis sounds as if they are no reasons to ever visit on purpose.

Marlins released him, has major control problems, hope the Cubs stick with him. For once I'd like to see the Cubs pull a Jeremiah Estrada or Trevor Megill on another team.

This + being PO'ed Bagent was incapable of taking advantage of the many openings vs. the MFing Packers. Hopefully, Caleb is one of those guys who plays better when he's angry. -

There's a really good chance it was a one-off due to QB ineptitude, the Packers appeared to be world beaters largely because Bagent made it easier. -
Oh, I think he knows, it's just not cheap or within the realm of his ever constant search for value.

Forgot about this aspect. There's also a physical limit on how hard one is able throw a baseball as well.
