    Yes, don't know with Gordon, is it he aggravated/re-injured/new injury because of an intense off season program or is it being paid and the want is gone? The way Ben is talking, it's the later and if it is, he'll be an ex-Bear in 2027.

    Illini Summer Workout Scrimmages - flashes from Coleman, Lincoln Williams, Vaaks and Zens. Of course, it's much like the NBA Summer league nevertheless, plenty to find encouraging.

    In time, I believe Swain will turn it around, on the other hand, Essengue' got a G season to show he's worth the investment. My hot take - he's a bust, the Bulls won't pick up his option and he'll be back in Europe by 2028.

    Put Essengue on that train as well, don't know if he'll ever amount to anything. But, whatever that may be is light years away. Guess the Bulls have until Halloween to pick up the option for his third year, if he doesn't show any signs of life in the G-league, Noa better start thinking about FA.

    Do you see, much as last season, the asking prices for controlled pitchers being exorbitantly high?

    I believe their approach of death by a thousand cuts works over the course of a long season. Just, don't think it's quite as successful in the post season, they're no longer facing average to below average pitching, the opponents are no longer mistake prone and have overall solid lineups which can execute against the Brewers pitching.

    I don't know about this, despite the shittyness of the last FO, the Caruso trade was actually good. They bought low on Giddey, couldn't get him for such a price now.

    New Balance has a line of lacrosse cleats using the word "Freeze", not exactly "Iceman", both imply ice.

    Thanks all for the replies, offering some positive news. Regarding the draft, should the Cubs go 2 pitchers for every position player or is that an overreaction?

    Thanks. Read the piece about the Cubs plethora of injuries the other day and the author painted a really dire picture of the Cubs as a whole. Now, I agree a whole horsefeathers ton of things have gone wrong, including Hoyer' drafting of guys - Horton, Conrad, Wiggins - who, have thus far, shown their greatest ability is the ability to remain injured. But, it's probably not as bad as it seems right now.

    For those in the know - within the next few seasons is the Cubs farm system going to pop with pitching? Given the lack of pitching at the big league and AAA level I know this seems like a silly question. Thought, I've read at the lower levels the Cubs have quite a few possibly quality pitching prospects.

    Before learning of the trade I was warming to the idea of Braden Smith being a Bull. I've no doubt Smith will make it to the NBA. Oh well, Kam Jones isn't bad compensation, he's got a chance to stick.

    They did get Kam Jones in the trade for 38 so, I guess, a little more than a nothing burger.

    Being reading and hearing Seth Jones and Bowen Byram in the same sentence. Don't think Byram can be as worthless and bad as Jones but, to be already mentioned in such comparisons is concerning.

    You hit on the head with Lendeborg. His being a cocky horsefeathers teenager won't play well among the big boys.

    Besides, of course, the money, I wonder if May achieving everything he possibly could at the college level was a factor. He had a once in a coaching lifetime season and it could have been difficult chasing that for the rest of career at the college level.
