Maybe someone has access to the data, it appeared he had the extra tick early gradually fading, at which point, he got shelled.

I don't believe this matters when, as of late, the guy's been a gopher ball machine. As been stated when Shota' not getting that extra tick on the FB, the cornucopia of HR's is in order.

Boyd' been lately okay, it's Shota that's the problem, he's a ticking bomb, it's not a matter of if but, when is he going throw multiple gopher balls. Until a playoff spot is clinched he's got to be on a short leash.

That's a good catch, Craig' had enough and rightly so.

I know the Cubs bullpen is terrible and all. However, both games the Brewers won misplays by the Cubs were the key elements.

A scenario very similar to last season appears to be playing out with Shota. Starts out okay, has a stretch of looking pretty good, is effective, then, dissolves to un-pitchable. Well, un-pitchable in any game where winning is paramount.

Really don't like Shota going tonight, Craig should have a quick hook, I'd pull him at the first hint of trouble. It's only a matter time before he gives up multiple 2 and 3 run bombs. It's got to suck as a manager to know your starter is so volatile and you can't trust him at all.

Cubs will make the playoffs, wouldn't be surprised if the managed to get the WC #1 back. Phillies are way overdue for a regression.

Wait a minute, Henderson doesn't throw 150 MPH? He's a locate the FB, get batters out with a change up type, like Kyle Hendricks with maybe a tick more on the FB?

Definitely agree, Palencia, Zeferjahns, Cabrera they have the stuff to be dominate, one or more of them gets hot look out. It's not like we're hope/wishing on Shota to be effective, doesn't have the stuff, never will. As for the Brewers all their regular season success against replacement level pitching won't translate to squat in the playoffs. They're not going to be able to cobble together enough GB singles, misplayed GB's and FB's against quality pitching.

With the Bears? Yes. I believe the Bears are not going to activate him regardless of his "health". Had he retired up front, it would have been better for everyone. We don't Gordon' side of the story, this is true. I have to think had he been working his ass to get healthy and still, having set backs. The narrative coming from the Bears would have been different.

I was thinking in terms of not activating the window, not moving him to the 53 man roster thereby, him not playing in 2026. Which is the same effect as cutting him.

They'll get in, Arizona is not going to pass the Cubs. They also have a replacement level staff with a far worse lineup. Just took a quick glance at Arizona' statistics, overall pitching WAR of 9.8 with 5.1 coming from a guy, Rodríguez, who is out pitching his underlying data.

They can't even manage average pitching, an average staff probably wins one of the previous two games. It does not have to be like this, the Cubs have more than enough resources to manage, at least, an average pitching staff.

I believe I see what the Bears are doing, financials aside, they've effectively cut Gordon by putting him on the PUP list. Apparently he cannot practice for the first two weeks and play in the first four games. This is the key part - after two weeks the Bears have a 21 day window to activate him and move him to the 53 man roster. If not activated within the 21 day window he'll not be able to play in 2026. Yeah, he's done as Bear, they didn't out right release him but, they did the next closet thing.

Exactly and, there's no reason whatsoever, that guys with stuff to dominate - Palencia, Zerferjahns, Cabrera -can't get hot for a few weeks in the postseason. We've seen such things time and again, there's no law against some of these guys doing this for the Cubs.

Neither am I, bring them on, the whole dread of a possibly hard schedule is load of horsefeathers. There's way too many variables, a team can literally go from good to bad, bad to good, there's no way, for the most part, team X is going to bad or good before the games are played.

Yeah, he's held quite a bit, doesn't get the calls, had his name been Garrett, Parsons, Hutchinson, etc. he'd probably get more calls.

Despite the highlights being against NFL-lite players he appears to have a quicker burst than Dexter. I liked Dexter, just think he may be too slow, think its why 2-teams were so effective and why he has problems stopping the run.

Wholeheartedly agree, don't hold against the players who desire to be functional after football. I do have a problem with what Gordon appears to be doing. Dude, if you appreciated the Bears, you should have retired well before the draft.

I beginning to wonder if we'll see, with the Bears, the football version of what's playing out with Cubs? That is, an overwhelming offense coupled with a defense that couldn't stop a HS team. All those talking regression with Caleb are in for a big surprise, I've no doubt he and the Bears offense are going nuclear on the NFL. The only problem is the NFL may go nuclear on the Bears' defense.

The reality is Cabrera has the stuff to dominate, whether he can get hot for a few weeks is the hope.

Exactly, just retire, don't half ass it, go through the motions, just quit.

If it's in reference to Gordon sure sounds like he didn't or isn't really working to get back.
