    Busch doesn't look as he's capable of two week or so hot streak. Wondering, after roster expansion, if Ayers comes up and hitting will get some starts at 1B? Thought I saw something about him playing 1B at Iowa.

    MVP? Chourio', don't you know, is a sure fire HOF'er while PCA "struggles" on defense and doesn't steal bases.

    Haven't crunched the numbers nevertheless, say, the Cubs had a league average WAR from their pitching staff. It's probably not that much of an exaggeration to state they'd have baseball' best record and, of course, be ahead of the Brewers.

    It'd awfully horsefeathers great if Busch could remember he used to be able to hit sometime soon. Like, say, today.

    Let me see if I have this straight, another slam article on Cubs player, PCA. Coupled with a glam article on Jackson Chourio. PCA, who is currently SUPERIOR to Chourio in every facet of the game is "struggling" with defense yet, Chourio is HOF bound? Got it. This constant stream of Brewers aggrandizement and, for the most part, putting down the Cubs, is getting really tiresome.

    Yeah, I don't know if any of the Brewers pitchers had the injury histories of Wiggins or Horton. It's a high risk, high reward situation for the Cubs in drafting guys like Wiggins and Horton. Unfortunately, the risk is winning with guys who, have thus far, shown the best ability they have is to be injured.

    Pitching, pitching, pitching, they've had extraordinary success with turning around failed top pitching prospects - Priester, Harrison and others - struck gold every time. I don't know if that's sustainable, you'd think, eventually, one these acquisitions will turn out to be fool's gold. It's horsefeathers baseball after all.

    It's the pitching, unfortunately, they've a very good staff and their collection of flotsam and jetsam provides just enough offense to make it stick. Even with the best record they're primed for another October flop. Playoff teams will be able to execute against the Brewers pitching and their death by a thousand cuts offense won't be able to string enough cuts together vs. better pitching.

    This is what drives me nuts about the Brewers' pixie dust, I know clowns like Vaughn, etc. are propped up by the pitching. Nevertheless, the Brewers' having success with players possessing large enough sample sizes to suggest they're below average to bad - Perkins, Hamilton, Bauers, Mitchell, Vaughn, Ortiz, yadda, yadda - is very frustrating. I could see one or, maybe, a couple them of getting it together and finding success but, all of them? WTF?! At least when the Cardinals where at their pixie dust height they actually had good players, HOF'ers in fact, Pujols, Rolen, etc. I could almost live with their success or, at least, reasonably justify it.

    Another horsefeathers groin injury, this time it's Austin Booker, it's football, people are constantly injured. But, holy horsefeathers I'd rather it be during the course of a regular season game than these injuries resulting from practice.

    That's key, everyone is harping on no pass rush, last season' biggest problem was the inability to stop the run. They couldn't get off the field, opponents rushing on them set up everything else. Stop the run, increase the number of predictable passing downs. Even teams without a stellar pass rush become dangerous in these situations.

    Don't know how much of an overreaction, Boyd' been awful, tossing nothing but meatballs.

    Which slumping Diamondback is going to get well off Boyd today? Even Ian Happ could smoke Boyd.

    Not even the remotest chance of a win, Boyd will be what he's been lately - terrible.

    Back issues? If so, I don't have much faith he'll be able to be injury-free for a sustained period.

    Count on it, he's been terrible and the Diamondbacks have done very well vs. LHP. It's as close to a unwinnable game as there is for the Cubs.

    Damn, winning yesterday would have secured, at least, a .500 road trip, now it's going to be 2-4. There's no way in the world the Cubs are going to win a Boyd start.

    I don't think so, their collection of, save for a few, of cast-offs and oompa loompas only works because of their excellent pitching.

    As a thought experiment - if the Brewers had suffered the Cubs' equivalence of pitching injuries how many games would they be under .500? Putting the Brewers' pitching WAR at the Cubs' level puts them in Mets, Astros, Royals, Giants territory so, they'd be around 10-12 games under .500?

    Wonder if he's nearing the end, unlike single malt scotch, I don't believe he's going to improve with age.

    But, of course, he was throwing harder vs. the Cubs! Well, it was more likely the their proximity to the WC, etc.

    Watched the condensed game highlights, man, it would have be frustrating to watch the Cubs flail away in real time as did against Kelly last night. Kelly' literally got nothing (someone with access to his underlying peripherals can probably back this up) and Busch could not put the ball in play against him, holy horsefeathers that's frustrating. On the plus side, playing lacrosse last night, I did manage to catch a nice feed right in front of the goal and proceeded to not score. So there's that, shot hit the shaft of the goalie' stick otherwise, might have scored.
