    Watching the Astros and Diamondbacks, Cam Smith is not good. He's young so, there's room for improvement, wonder if he wouldn't benefit from some more time in the minors.

    They'll probably be eliminated from playoff contention by the time they get to Wrigley Field. Nevertheless, if they're not, it would great if the Cubs were the team officially eliminating the Marlins.

    Really, I don't think there's any qualitative way one can say Pauley is good or even, average, yet the Cubs managed to walk him twice.

    They're good at home 42-29, not so good, even bad, on the road 29-43. Wouldn't you agree good teams manage at least .500 on the road?

    Marlins aren't good, Cubs pitching did their best to make them look good.

    I'd still take a chance on him getting hot for a bit in the post season. Him, more so than Rea, Thornton, Rolison or Theilbar.

    Come on, the Brewers are really bad match up for Shota. Haven't the Cubs lost enough to those fucks? Why make it easier?

    That's got to be it, Shota starting against the Brewers is some bad managing on Craig' part.

    The Brewers own Shota, Shota owns the Pirates, why not hold him back for the Pirates?

    Why go with Shota against the Brewers? It's a particularly bad match up for Shota. Doesn't make sense to keep throwing him to the wolves.

    Shota was good tonight, except for the pitch on which PCA made a great play, he was locating, had the splitter working as well. Still wouldn't start him in Milwaukee.

    Neither do I, very, very similar to last season, had a stretch of effectiveness and finishing up as a non-option.

    For the most part the Cubs season has been collection of local minima and maxima, were coming off a local minima for Boyd. One would think a local maxima is forthcoming for Boyd or, in, other words, Boyd should soon be positively regressing. I've no such hope for Shota.

    It's too bad Brown is done, most especially against the Brewers, they crush Shota. Can't do anything with Ben, particularly in Milwaukee -

    I don't think he's making the playoff roster, his last regular season appearance is his last as a Cub.
