  1. I assume so, but what I have been told by friends with older kids is that school sports are secondary to travel.
  2. I still subscribe to there being benefit to playing multiple sports, but that is soooo hard to do in the current landscape of youth sports. My 9 year old son really enjoys baseball. He has rec baseball in the summer, travel baseball year round, individual hitting sessions, individual pitching sessions, other camps, etc. The problem is, all those activities don't leave room for much else. He plays rec soccer in the fall and has occasionally played indoor in the winter when the schedule allows, but there isn't time to dedicate much to soccer outside of games and practices. He has expressed interest in playing basketball, but I just don't know how to fit that in. None of the sports ever really end and everything overlaps/conflicts with the others. You can play everything casually or you can play one sport seriously, but it's hard to find any balance in between.
  3. I know I should get over it, but it is insane that PCA is not starting the All-Star game.
  4. Belgium has a population less than the state of Illinois. Kind of crazy to be so thoroughly outclassed by them in the first half.
  5. My uneducated observer comment for the night: Is Belgium on a game-long power play?
  6. I've never heard Kendall Gill do anything outside the studio, but if you're looking for a guy who "kind of" checks the same boxes as Stacey King, he might be it. Former Bull, long-time NBA veteran, fun personality, positive vibe. Obviously nobody can compete with Stacey, but I could see Amin and Gill working.
  7. I will never not hate this. Pitching is so fragile now that a possible 115-120 pitch perfect game is off limits. And maybe it's still the "right" thing to do, but it is also another symptom of the baseball disease that has no cure.
  8. Opinion from an uneducated soccer observer: Red cards are stupid. Having to play a man down based on a subjective ruling from a referee puts way too much power in the ref's hands to completely change a game.
  9. How long before Trump takes credit?
  10. This bold experiment of batting the worst hitter 2nd every day needs to end.
  11. Golden State is at -500 to land LeBron, so I guess it's happening. Who knows if it will work out. LeBron is a freak of nature, but sooner than later he is going to break down physically. The only question is when.
  12. Man, the trade deadline is going to be fascinating. The Cubs are in such an interesting position with seemingly insurmountable injuries but somehow being able to hold things together.
  13. In real time, I was in favor of sending Dansby. In hindsight, it looked like a bad send. I'm curious what the statistics would say on the one - How often the outfielder makes that throw compared to how often a runner on third with 1 out scores against Mason Miller. At the very least, I think sending Swanson was a defensible call.
  14. The big story for me is still whatever the hell is going on with PCA. His approach at the plate has been absolutely incredible. I'm not under any illusion that he is going to keep walking at this rate consistently, but just knowing that this ability is in there raises his offensive ceiling substantially.
  15. Terrible at bat. Took a perfect pitch to bunt for strike 1, then a half-assed attempt for strike 2.
  16. I'm concerned about the injury itself. Misdiagnosed or not, Brown has now had the same rather unusual injury twice in less than three years.
  17. That is not in any way comforting to me. It doesn't change the injury itself or what is causing it in the first place.
  18. Tell me someone is seeing something, anything, promising with Bregman. Because I'm not seeing any reason to think he can be an above average MLB hitter.
  19. I saw this was classified as a "stress reaction," which I believe is the same exact injury that caused Brown to miss a significant amount of time 2 years ago.
  20. The Ayo trade just burns me. How they couldn't get a first round pick for him is just beyond me. And if they couldn't, they should have just kept him. Yeah, he was expensive to re-sign, but that doesn't mean you just give a valuable piece away for nothing.
  21. Yeah, punting on the second round picks, ESPECIALLY after this past trade deadline where the Bulls settled for second round picks as their trade returns, just doesn't sit right with me. I haven't followed the Bulls seriously for years, but have still always considered myself a fan. This year, I think I'm going to try something different. I'm going to follow Keaton Wagler and the Clippers. We'll see if that experiment lasts more than a few games, but I'll give it a shot!
