  1. While that may be true, the Dodgers having significantly more money to spend than anyone else due to a fluke TV deal is a relatively new phenomena.
  2. I have posed the question in other threads before, but seriously, what is the deal with Mark Grace? As far as I can tell, he is the only living Cubs Hall of Famer who almost never (or more recently, never) attends any team or alumni events. I believe he was close to Ryne Sandberg, yet he wasn't seen or heard from after Ryno's death. He never comes back for Cubs Convention. I believe the last time he did anything with the team was when he made a brief appearance at Spring Training last year. I have to wonder if he is not in good terms with the organization, or someone within the organization. Or does he simply never leave the state of Arizona? I know he has had his issues over the years, so I hope he is doing alright. The broadcast thing didn't really work out, but I just wish we would see him around the team more often, especially at events like Cubs Convention where his absence has been notable.
  3. That is part of the reason why I think it could end up being Happ. At Hoerner's age, he can go into free agency looking for a 5+ year deal. Happ, on the other hand, might settle for a semi team friendly deal on a shorter term (3 years).
  4. Out of the Cubs big 3 position player free agents following this season (Happ, Hoerner, Suzuki), who do people think they are most likely to bring back? Prior to the Bregman signing, Hoerner was the obvious choice, but now I'm not so sure. It may be more likely they try to keep Happ around for a few more years so they only have one corner outfield spot to fill. I would still really prefer the Cubs keep Hoerner and reconstruct the outfield, but I think it is unlikely they commit that amount of long term money to 3/4 of the infield.
  5. Stafford is going to be 38 years old in a few weeks. He may put a few more solid seasons together, but he is nearing the end.
  6. I hadn't considered this, but I think "disaster" is a bit strong here. Maybe they even end up re-signing one or two of the QO players going into 2027, in which case the difference here isn't as pronounced.
  7. I really think the way the Bears performed in those short yardage situations the rest of the game played into that decision. And the way the Bears responded in OT validated the decision. They did everything right up until the Interception and the game was theirs to win. And one other thing to consider, something small but not completely negligible... By kicking the extra point, they ensured the Rams would play it conservative and take a knee, guaranteeing the game would go to OT. But I believe there were like 18 seconds left on the clock at the time and the Rams still had their timeouts. If you go for 2, and even if you make it, the Rams are still a few medium gains or 1 long play away from a possible field goal attempt to win the game.
  8. Obviously Cris Collinsworth knows a thing or two about playing wide receiver. It is telling that he called out DJ immediately after the play happened, then came back to it after the game and hammered him some more. I agree with some others that it just doesn't make sense... Why would he give up on the route?
  9. The Bears were getting just enough pressure on him to make him uncomfortable. Maybe the cold played a part. Maybe his finger isn't right. But I give the Bears defense and Dennis Allen credit for keeping the pressure on him and not letting him sit back in the pocket all day.
  10. The defense was outstanding tonight. The only thing they didn't do was turn the ball over, partially because the bounces went the Rams way when the ball was on the ground.
  11. Being hurt isn't an excuse up give up on a play. Unless he was concussed, in which case he shouldn't have been out there anyway.
  12. Man, they are really pinning it on DJ. What do you even say to him in the locker room?
  13. Is really easy to look back in hindsight, but I didn't like that last pass play at all. The Bears were in complete control at that point and just needed to control the ball and get a first down.
  14. Completely outplayed the Rams, but lost the turnover battle 3-0. I would never have expected that.
  15. Whatever happens here, we will be talking about that throw for years.
  16. Now would be the time for that turnover.
  17. I would agree if not for the absolute horsefeathers show in short yardage situations today.
  18. Yeah, the runs were bad for multiple reasons.
  19. Can't horsefeathers convert short yardage. The run game is killing them.
  20. We thought Ben was too cute before on short yardage. No cuteness tonight and it isn't working.
  21. Yeah. This is the playoffs. Not the time to concede the first down and go out of bounds.
  22. Stepped out and didn't reach the ball forward.
