  1. Thornton looks like he is redlining it every outing, overthrowing everything and somehow getting the job done... but he is eventually going to be voted the weakest link.
  2. Probably saving Rea for long relief tomorrow piggybacking with Holmes?
  3. Happ has been really hesitant to challenge pitches all year. And especially now, his confidence in the strike zone is probably extremely low.
  4. Ok, that's a tough one. When things aren't going your way...
  5. Barring a significant turnaround in the near future, he's looking at a 1 year prove-it deal.
  6. Someone in another thread mentioned the Cubs giving Happ a QO in the offseason. There's absolutely no way they can do that, right? He would definitely accept it, and it would not be money well spent.
  7. Yeah, I saw some insiders suggest November as a possibility.
  8. Seems like he'll be back for meaningful games, but yeah, it's something like this EVERY year.
  9. Meh, whatever. It was the Blue Jays' ace against the Cubs' #7 starter. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over this one.
  10. I think it's mostly just a reflection of the fans' general disappointment with Tucker's performance. He was the big move who was supposed to anchor the offense last year, and he didn't do that. And then going to the evil Dodgers on top of that certainly didn't help things.
  11. I don't see it. At some point, there just isn't room left on the roster for more pitchers.
  12. Have they? They have let guys like Alcantara die on the vine.
  13. Yes, the Cubs seem have paid a very high price for what they got. I think the story will ultimately be told by how the rest of the season turns out. If the Cubs make a deep playoff run, it was worth it. If they fizzle out in the Wild Card round, or worse, then we might look back on this deadline very negatively.
  14. Taylor as in Tyrone Taylor? Does he hit lefties well?
  15. I'm not high on McGwire. He has flashed some stuff, but it still a long way away from being a legitimate Major League pitcher.
