  1. I was thinking along the same lines. Not just that it took away PCA's game winner, but also the narrative that goes along with that.
  2. Why go away from Thielbar with the lefties coming up?
  3. PCA is getting thrown at tomorrow if he plays. But I'm really hoping Craig gives him the day off anyway.
  4. Completely agree. Ideally, some of the dropoff is offset by better pitching health, but the offense is going to be a struggle to replicate this year.
  5. Good news: The Cubs won and I got to watch the whole game on my tablet. Bad news: I live at LAX now.
  6. These guys in the crowd chanting all game long is extremely annoying.
  7. I have been stuck at LAX since this morning and have another 4 hours to wait before my rescheduled flight takes off. I've been sitting here waiting for the Cubs game to start so I have something to do, and now a weather delay...
  8. Feels like a little bit of smoke and mirrors right now. He has had a lot of soft contact finding holes rather than the constant hard hit balls he was hitting in Iowa. I do like him, but I think now is the perfect time to get maximum value with him as a key trade piece.
  9. I assume lots of contenders have a starter in their rotation with a 6.00 ERA... I never liked the Taillon signing, but he did give the Cubs a couple solid years of value in the middle two years of the contract. But now, the time has come to move on. Unless there's a minor injury and they can stash him away for awhile on a rehab assignment in case of emergency, he needs to be released by the next time this rotation spot comes around.
  10. He plays a good third base. I'll give him that much. And only that much.
  11. Funny they are talking about how Counsell likes the wind howling in. Why wouldn't he? He has a pitching staff full of guys who are prone to giving up the long ball. The wind may be the only thing that keeps them competitive.
  12. We haven't seen the best of Michael Busch. I know this because Rick Sutcliffe told us last night that he is only going to keep getting better.
  13. To be fair, who else would you put in the 4 spot from today's lineup? After 1-3, there's a big dropoff regardless.
  14. "Zach Mckinstry did a lot of nice things when he was in that Cubs uniform " Ok Sut, I'll bite. Name one.
  15. I wanted no part of Finnegan in the offseason and I still don't.
  16. "Who's number 4?" Seriously, big Cubs fan Kittle? Get out of the booth.
  17. Someone please explain to a soccer neophyte: Messi was mostly a non-factor. It looked like he had no room to do anything. When he did get the ball, Spain was right in top of him immediately. Is there anything he could have done differently, or was it just that Spain was a much better overall team in terms of talent, game plan, or both? Would things have been any different if this was 31 year old Messi instead of 39 year old Messi, or would it not even have mattered with how the team was being defended? In general, was Spain just that much more talented at almost every position, or do they have superior coaching/strategy?
  18. Wake me up when Jed trades for someone NOT on the scrap heap.
  19. I came here to post this. I feel so bad for Bryant that he is stuck in limbo being an "active" player who can't play and not being able to participate with his 2016 teammates to celebrate the team that he was a HUGE part of. We will probably never see him play another game, but I truly hope he can get to a point physically to be able to join the Cubs as an ambassador in a few years and be able to make occasional appearances at Wrigley, Cubs Con, etc. I want to see him and Rizzo together again at Wrigley.
