  1. Oh it's 'strong' alright but not really in a good way, lol
  2. Well said Rob. Some people just can't or won't admit the guy is 'off'. I mean....Turning Point? DUDE........
  3. Exactly right...if Shaw stays on the straight and narrow off the field and blows up this season on the field then he can slide over to 2nd when Nico hits free agency. Like you say, plenty of AB's for Shaw as a utility guy and backup at 3rd/SS/2nd and if Bregs/Dansby/Nico get nicked we have a solid replacement.
  4. I want to be bowled over too but as much as WE value Nico (and most of us really do) I just don't think he'll bring back enough to justify trading him. His lack of power is palpable and hurts his trade value some IMO. Hope they keep him and extend him personally. Love me some Nico.
  5. No problemo. We are on the same page FWIW about Shaw, both on and off the field. Peace out.
  6. You aren't the only one....you're just the only one to admit it. MAGA Matt relegated to the bench where he belongs. LOLZZZZZZZZZZ
  7. HUGE BUMP....your boy MAGA Matt just got replaced R10. Suck on that broseph!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Your facts have NO place on this board. Derwood and RCal are bosom buddies....lol. Both wrong again and won't admit it. Hilarious.
  9. Get off your soap box man, he hasn't proven a damn thing yet: as a man or as a player. Your defense of him is amusing though. I'm here for it.
  10. I didn't mean literally but meant he's so bad defensively that they are stuck with him and if they COULD unload him and his 25 mil salary this year then the buying team would slot I'm in at DH. Of course Schwarb is the DH but in reality that's all Nick is at this point of his career. He's a turn style in right field. But don't take MY word for it, Jayson Stark says that NC is statistically the worst right fielder in MLB history: Drunk Phils Fans WWW.FACEBOOK.COM Jayson Stark said “Nick Castellanos is statistically the worst RF in MLB history defensively”
  11. You are HOPING Shaw will be good from an offensive standpoint. Already agree he's very good with the glove but hasn't shown any real pop with the bat. Hope is a slippery slope, and while you COULD be right, early returns aren't good as of yet. That's a fact.
  12. Olney filed a story earlier this evening and basically said Yanks are offering him 5/150 and he and Boras want more. I think any team is crazy to offer him more than that, namely due to his injury history. I like Belli....but not that much. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/47574031/sources-yankees-negotiations-cody-bellinger-impasse
  13. To posters 9 and Derwood: Just don't think Shaw has enough pop and power to play 3B. Strikes me as a position teams need to get good power production from. I say that fully realizing he had good power stats in college and the minors but I'm not seeing that thus far in MLB. I hope you guys are right but I'm skeptical. Then again, I've been wrong before: he might just need more seasoning as '9' suggested.
  14. REAL curious to get some opinion on what the hell we're gonna actually do at 3B this coming season. FTR, I'm not a Matt Shaw fan in more ways than one. I think he'd be a solid bench player and late inning replacement, if for instance we trade for Bohm after Philly signs Bichette which I think they're gonna do. That would be my first choice. Secondly would be to sign Suarez, who is older and an avg. fielder but man would he look good in the middle of our lineup guys. He could hit 45-50 homers at Wrigley. Lastly, I want Bregman too but I think we know deep down that's not gonna happen. He's also been hurt more and more as he's aged which isn't unusual but a fact nonetheless. Thoughts?
  15. Meh, used to be a great player but he's hurt all the time too. Friggin' Humpty Dumpty now.
  16. Yeah, Nick is a full time DH these days. Guy is immobile and really regressed last season. Showing his age. He's in the last year of his deal BTW.
  17. Absolutely. He's simply NOT worth that kinda money and there is zero chance Jud and Tom cough it up. Pivot to Suarez I say.
  18. You are right, we need another bat and most of us feel Maga Matt isn't the answer at 3rd. As I've said in other threads today, I think when all is said and done we might end up with Suarez at 3rd. Hear me out, because he's not my first choice (that would be Bregman) but I think that Bregs/Bo/Tuck/Belly are all 30ish and all kinda fragile frankly. Really good hitters but with the exception of Bregman, all average to below avg. defensively. Don't think that juice is worth the squeeze and I really think Jed will pass on all four. Just a gut feeling. Suarez is also an avg. defender, older but so much pop and that uppercut swing will play well in Wrigley. He's been more durable than the aforementioned four superstars and is a real pro. I think he can hit 40-50 homers and if his defense is a worry, then Shaw can replace him in the late innings. Thoughts?
  19. There's all SORTS of creativity that Counsel and Tommy can cook up with what Jed has provided. Strong staff and when inevitable injuries occur they haves some quality depth with Assad/Rea/Wicks/Brown that they haven't had before. I think we've gotten better this offseason, dunno about the Brewers. Still say they do more with less $ than any other MLB team. Sure the playoffs are an issue, but they've had a lock on this division. Would be nice to knock them off this season.
  20. Not good indeed....Phils will probably sign him. It's kinda what they do. Their ownership group will spend and spend freely. As I said before, I think we end up with Suarez. Tuck/Breg/Belly/Bo are all 30ish and have been more and more nicked up as they age. Suarez is older but durable and a true 3rd bagger. Just wish he was younger.
  21. Yeah, Rea was really solid last year for the money IMO. Now that we've traded for Cabrera, what role does everyone see Rea in? Swing guy....spot starter and long relief? Again, I really like the guy for the money. I would say he's got a rubber arm but I don't wanna jinx him. Next season starters: 1) Horton....prospective ace with dynamite stuff 2)Edward Cabrera....if healthy, he's exciting 3)Boyd....I think he wore down in 2nd half last season. He'll be more effective this season if they lighten his load as the season progresses. I still like him a lot 4) Taillon...really solid vet for a MOR type guy. Very good when healthy 5)Imanaga...showed signs of wear and tear and age in 2nd half last season but like Boyd, they'll lessen his load in the 2nd half by spot starting Assad or Rea *6)Justin Steele.....one of the best aspects of trading for Cabrera is not having to hurry back Steele. I'd guess he'll be back by June or July but if it's August then so be it. It'll be like trading for an ace at that point.
  22. Is that the same woman he abused before or a new wife? Just curious I guess.
  23. Agree, I just don't think we end up with any of the guys the media has said we're "in" on: Bregman/Tuck/Belly/Bichette are all 30ish and all have injury concerns. The only other guy no one is paying too much attention to is Suarez. Older, but durable and cheaper. I could see it happening. Wouldn't thrill me, but I could absolutely see it happening.
  24. Do NOT trade him...he's a vital BOR guy. Especially once injuries hit, which they always will
