Riiiiiiight.....keep telling yourself that. Whatever gets you through the night man. He sucks and it's nothing new. Guy was a bad signing and the proof is in his bad numbers. "Jameson Taillon has shown inconsistency on the mound, with stretches of strong performances offset by outings where he struggles with pitch counts and giving up hits. While he has had moments of success, including a stretch of five consecutive wins with two or fewer runs allowed, his overall numbers have been impacted by issues like high pitch counts, allowing traffic on the bases, and giving up home runs" He was signed to be a solid #3 MOR kinda guy and he's not living up to that....at all.

Perfect, what makes it worse is they'll probly rush him back and for what? Keep him down there until he gets a clue. Remember, he was terrible BEFORE his injury.

Man....baseball is like life: so damn unpredictable and frustrating at times. But then again...that's why I love it so much too. As for the Brewers injuries, that was inevitable of course. Don't wish injuries on anyone obviously. I did wonder about them letting Miz pitch in the all star game and packing on those extra innings.

Sounds about right...I had us at 87 wins but now could see us winning 90-92 but that won't win the division, unless MIL has some injuries along the way

Quality post and points, especially about Milwaukee....jebus I'm SICK of them. Even more sick of every time I turn around seems they're playing the Nats or PItt or the Rockies or Arizona....I've read on here we have 'the easier schedule' in the 2nd half of the season. Not in August. We might be 4-6 games down by 9/1 at this rate and that'll mean playing strictly for a wild card.

Yeah, that's a fact: did you see O'Neill stand there in utter dismay that his ball to left field didn't go out? I thought it was gone off the bat. Bully sucks, again what do they expect with all the washed up rejects in it? One or two reclamation projects is fine but 4 or 5? It's clownish.

Don't think he was being serious but this club is gonna struggle to reach 90 wins which means they'd have to play .500 ball (26-26) the rest of the way. Pitching is suspect, Offense is offensive and the only thing that is really consistently good is the defense. Most will disagree with me, but I couldn't care less: glad Jed didn't mortgage our solid stud prospects for guys that wouldn't have put us over the top this season. Again, we are about the 5th best team in the NL right now. Even if we sneak into the playoffs we won't go anywhere. Again, the patch work bullpen with all the old guys is the worst aspect of this. I understand not trading for a starter, more than one other GM said the asking prices were clownish. Tallion (yay) and Assad coming back can't be discounted but at the end of the day get ready to see Caissie in right next year cuz King Tuck is Puckering when it counts most. NO sense in giving that guy a mega deal. Which means they probably will of course. Nothing ever surprises me with the Cubs. 48 years of being a Cubs fan assures that.

Meh, they don't have to be the greatest team in history....they only have to be better than the Cubs, which they pretty clearly are right now

Yeah, no argument from me. What I'm realizing though is JUST how mediocre we really are guys. It's not just the starting pitching, its the offense and the geriatric rejects we trot out from the bullpen. Brasier and Thielbar? I mean.....we just traded for Rogers who has a solid pedigree and good ole' loyal skipper Craig sticks with those two old glue horses. The NL after the deadline is just LOADED if you are honest about it: Brewers/Phils/Mets/Padres/Dodgers are all looking down on us at this point. Not so much from a wins/losses standpoint but talent and realistic shot at winning the NL pennant. We aren't even top 5 at this point and our play backs that up

True dat....well King Tuck didn't even put the ball in play, looking overmatched again. Don't know why so many wanna give him that mega deal. He's just not good enough to warrant it and hasn't been for awhile. PCA with a chance to atone for another rough day. Hope he doesn't try to hit it 600 feet. Just need a single Pete

Can't make it up....most of our bullpen is made up of old journeymen: Keller/Thielbar/Pomeranz/Flexen...now gone but still. It's a minor miracle they pitched as well as they did most of the year. Just kind laughable really. Rogers just looked better than Thielbar or Pomeranz already so maybe he'll get more high leverage calls in the future. Meantime the Brewers are cruising to another easy win over an overmatched opponent.

No argument there 83....I've said for about 3 weeks now it's obvious they're better than us as things stand currently. Rogers looks better than Thielbar BTW...sure glad Craig is loyal. It's noble but in this case a losing proposition.

His curve had NO bit today and was minor league bad so what do they do? Hangs one right in the zone for the game winner. His fastball was fine at 94 mph....and he gets beat with that weak s.hit.

I just came into this thread to post this exact thing: Brewers have the Nats this weekend and also SL/PIt/Arizona this month as well. Granted, they have 4 against the Cubs too but in NO way do we have an easier schedule than they do...its not really close. They have a much easier sched. in August. As I typed this the almighty Thielbar's magic has run out. He has absolutely NOTHING today after Brasier looked almost as bad. We aren't gonna win with these re-treads and it was a minor miracle we won in the first half of the season with them. They suck...just wasted a great start by Boyd who looks sick in the dugout. That rolling curve ball that Thielbar hung was pathetic.

Doubtful on Happ...he has a full no trade clause. Most of us don't think they'll re-sign Tucker which I feel two ways about 1) sucks cuz we'll end up trading Paredes and Smith for ONE year of Tucker. I generally LIKE Jed but he's painted himself into a corner on this one 2)Do I think Tucker is worth a mega deal? Not really: no player is worth 400-500 mil over 10 years, it screws up the whole salary structure of a team. Lastly, Tuck is a really good player but not a great one. He's just not.

Good post as usual JR and it's the same thing Ken Rosenthal said yesterday about Breslow and the Red Sox, but he also lumped in Hoyer and the Cubs with his criticism as well. That said, knowing how Hoyer covets prospects, he has to feel a little queasy that he traded Cam Smith away. Tucker is great but most of us kind of know deep down that Tuck isn't re-signing here. So that will obviously mean that Jed lost Paredes and Smith for one year of Tucker. Worth it IF they can win the pennant or WS this season. But if not? No bueno. -
Solid post....his fastball tracks straight as an arrow BUT I don't wanna criticize the kid, cuz he's been absolutely great. But I think they can work with him to develop a cutter or even a sinker that will produce not only ground balls but swings and misses. Love the kid though.

I don't but I wouldn't doubt it: Mike was a good one. He had a similar career to Jon Lieber. Both pitched 14 seasons and both had right around 130 wins.

I don't disagree with you PP33 but your statement isn't really based in reality. Ian isn't having a good year and his trade value won't be very high UNLESS he takes off from here and really produces the rest of the season.
