  1. You might be old (you are) if you saw Manny Trillo play. LOL, I remember coming home from school in 2nd grade and watching him play. (yep...I'm old too)
  2. Exactly JR....I've been beating the drum for months to re-sign this guy. Yeah, he's older but he's durable and he KNOWS how to pitch. Great BOR kinda guy that affords Counsel great flexibility as a swing man if need be too. Very happy about it.
  3. Thanks for posting those BB....interesting list. I'd like to see the Cubs sign Michael King of San Diego as a starter and if possible reunite with Cody Bellinger. Bullpen? That's easy....give Brad Keller the nice raise he deserves on a 2-3 year deal.
  4. Absolutely....GO M's. Dodgers? Best team money can buy.
  5. Nice post...I'm going back and forth on Tucker. My gut and baseball sense says sign him. Dude has a sweet swing, good work ethic and is solid in the clubhouse. Then my head starts messing with me and I look at some of the pitching needs we have and if possible another bat and I think....use all that dough for our other needs. I have a buddy of mine who doesn't like him because he questions his durability. He is 30ish. At the end of the day I think they make a solid offer but nothing crazy and he'll end up on the Yankees. They missed out on Soto, doubt they'll miss out on Tucker.
  6. I could see them going with Horton/Taillon/Imanaga/Assad and re-signing Rea as the 5th guy. Rea had a damn solid BOR year for 5mil. He's got a rubber arm but at his age? Who knows but he is the only one of the 5 last season who wasn't hurt and did IL time. So yeah, the more I think about it we need another starter as Steele wont be back until summer I would think and Wiggins isn't ready yet.
  7. He's wound pretty tight that's for sure. I've got lots of experience with anger MGMT. and he probly needs some of that. Only sport that rivals baseball in mental torture and subsequent frustration is Golf.
  8. Rea did a really good job for most of the year....only paid him 5 mil and he has a rubber arm but to your point, wtf kind corner did they paint themselves into. Rea, Pomeranz, Thielbar, Kittredge are all serviceable but shouldn't be 'go to' guys at their age. Offense needs major work too and it's possible as we won't be signing Tucker so....get it done. Dodgers will beat the Brewers in 5 or 6. I would expect a Toronto/LA world series at this point. We are close, but not close enough in our current form.
  9. Nothing says insecurity like calling the team that's owned the division as of late 'little brother'.....lmao
  10. Agree. Just frustrating that we're paying a guy like Shota all that money and he can't be trusted to start. But...he's been bad so here we are. I'm on record as hating bullpen games but would love to be proven wrong. But Pomeranz? Man, that is hard to believe guys. Biggest game of the year and he's starting. Just can't get behind that.
  11. Only been on this board for a few months but I've never seen 8 likes for a post before. Rea is my choice too...I like him a lot and have all season. Hope they re-sign him for next year, dude has a rubber arm. Shota? Hard pass. Nice guy but he's running on fumes.
  12. Hyperbole much? I kid....you're right of course. Win this and move on, but as others have stated....4 runs probably won't win it.
  13. Valid point, and if you think about it: what teams in MLB could lose two guys like Steele and Horton and make a serious run? Not any I can think of. It's catching up with us, as you kinda knew it would
  14. Excellent post and I love your username. Had a Wilson A2000 for about 10 years and it was the best glove ever: saw me through High School and American Legion ball after that.
  15. I agree, would be huge. Is it plausible to send him to Arizona Fall League to do so or not? Kelly and Amaya make a nice duo but Miguel's health is sketchy
  16. I hear you ID...losing him for nothing is an all time Eff up. Worse than the Brock/Broglio trade IMO
  17. Yeah, it's slim picking for free agents IMO. Mahle of the Rangers is intriguing. Maybe better off trying to trade for someone like Gore instead: https://www.justbaseball.com/mlb/top-free-agent-starting-pitchers/
  18. You are right DDJ...no question but from what we were all told the asking price was too high for a quality starter. That said, would another decent starter put us over the top against MIL/Philly/LA? Kinda doubt it so we are at where we're at. Jed's gonna need to trade for someone in the offseason with Steele's return date up in the air: May, June? Who knows with his injury. Cade will be back so next April without an offseason trade we're looking at: 1)Cade 2)Boyd 3) Jamo 4) Shota 5) Assad.... That's a solid starting 5 and I suppose they could always re-sign Rea who pitched this season for 5 mil if memory serves correct
  19. Only thing going wrong for them. He'll probly DH the rest of the series. They got him out as a precaution I'd guess cuz game is over.
  20. Ho-Lee-Fuk........what a debacle. Don't wanna see Boyd until next season. Soroka never again.
  21. lol...seriously? They got stronger getting rid of his overrated azz....that much is obvious the last two seasons. Joke is on the Cubs and us
  22. He's the highest paid Mgr. not the best. I don't know anyone still saying that frankly. Getting humiliated today.
  23. Finally out....and another mighty pickup in for him. What a mess
