  1. I thought it was odd as well. I have seen clips of her and liked her. Sorry to see her go. I guess money and a path to the majors would be switch reasons.
  2. I think we kept Cassie and Alcantarra as replacements for Tucker next year. I just don’t see Ricketts paying what Tucker will get. I also think they feel the need to plan for post Happ years and that might even be 2026 even tho controlled thru 2027. We will need an infielder soon to replace Swanson. Whether that be moving Shaw to SS and finding a 3 B guy (sure wish Ballesteros could play third) or finding a SS. When will Rojas be ready? Finally, getting Assad, Taillon, and Hodge back soon is like trading for bull pen help so I think they were less motivated for pitching.
  3. If you were to draw a line at the bottom of the glutes and go from the right to the left, that line is at a greater upward angle in the minor league photo then in the major league photo. Similarly, if you drew a line across the top of his shoulders, that line is a more downward angle in the minor league photo. I don’t know how it changes the bat swing, but his torso is different in the two photos. How does this compare to prior AAA, AA, A ball from prior years? Was this a hitting coach suggestion? Should that high leg kick be changed or even removed?
  4. Good point about not really needing a true and definite #1 if you have multiple 2s and 3s. Sort of a front loading of your staff.
  5. Who is our back up third baseman? Who is our back up first baseman? who plays second for a month if Hoerner can’t start until May? We have pitchers in the mid and end range (Imanaga and Steele a 2, Taillon a 3, Boyd/Asaad/Rea maybe 5s, and Brown/Killion/Wicks in that 6 - 8 range. But it seems to me we still need a true #1 pitcher or at least another #2 or 3 guy. Is there a breakout guy on the roster?
  6. I hope you are correct. But even if we sign Beli, we are a wash for the off-season. Lost Stroman and picked up Imanga. Lost Beli and resigned Beli (if we do). None of this is really the positive many of us wanted. It gets worse as both St. Loius and Milwaukee have added.
  7. It seems to me........A lot of who should/could/would/will/won't play third base talk and speculation since the winter meetings. Wisdom for his power even if his defense (from average) is in decline? Madrigal with only a 2B arm? Morel for his bat and accept his hopefully "ok" defense. Matt Shaw, who has more time at other infield spots and likely needs more minor league at-bats? Trade for someone not on the current roster (and what prospect do we lose)? Play the recently acquired Busch against both R and L handers? Hoerner has gold gloves at SS and 2B. Why is no one talking about moving him to third? Morel's better position is 2B. Madrigal's arm is better at 2B. I likely am just missing something.
  8. Thanks. I guess you are right. It just seems too much for one guy. But now it looks like most guys feel we are out of it. The Reds got some guys, Cards did too. I would like to get somebody.
  9. I dont want this to appear as sour grapes, and maybe I dont understand his true value, but I would rather spend 50+M per year divided among 2-4 guys than 1.
  10. I don't understand how we can afford 500M. We still need two starting pitchers, bullpen, 1st base, 3rd base, and that assumes PCA can handle CF. Can someone help me with how the money can work?
  11. Everyone says we will but I hope we do not. I do not want to give up prospects, and would like to think Darvish will return as will Smyle. Too wishful thinking?
  12. I like Rosario and the guy we called up today. But what did Hancock do wrong to not get the call?
