Let’s get this done before the meetings start.

Watch, it's going to be something considerably more than it should be going back like Caissie.

Wesneski please but I could live with either.

Either is fine, IMO. I can find knocks on both, and could see where the Rays could want both.

Rays are probably gonna turn wesneski into a star

I remember someone on PSD mentioning being skeptical about ever trading with the Ray's. Because Ray's always seem to come ahead with their deals

The Rays do a great job in trades. However, they’ve also lost their fair share as well. There’s definitely a chance they turn Assad/Wes into something.

I would trade either for him. Sure, he might get injured again. But he also might not and if he doesn’t he would be the best pitcher on the team. Worth the risk IMO. And it is only 1 year so not like they are tying money up on a injured player for several years. High risk and high reward. If they needed to I wouldn’t have an issue if they added someone like Thompson as well.

Way to go out on a limb there.

Per Levine:

Javier Asad and Hayden Wesneski are names being considered by the Rays for Glasnow.

Totally fine with that.

I know it wasn't a trade but I think of guys like Adam's who the rays just turned into an absolute beast. Assad and Wesneski having tremendous amounts of movement and break on their pitches just seem like guys that would get to the next level with the rays. Wish the Cubs could poach whoever is leading the pitching charge over there.

They're still the smartest pitching team around but the gap between them an other teams has shrunk significantly.  It used to be

Rays>>Dodgers and Guardians >>>>>>Rest of the league

Now it's more like

Rays >Dodgers, Guardians, Mariners >Cubs, Brewers, Phillies > Rest of the league

Specifically to this rumor though, I don't think there's much to fix with Assad.  He was pretty great from June on.  Wesneski had his issues with lefties, though they're not very different from Alzolay's early in his career so I'm not convinced the Cubs can't fix him if he sticks around.

Glasnow is the one where there seems to be the most buzz of late. But as far as the Cubs are concerned, nothing has changed too much over the past week. They’re in the conversation, but other teams are as well. As of Saturday afternoon, nothing seemed close to done, certainly not with the Cubs. But that can change with one phone call. From what I understand, it won’t cost very much — relatively speaking as far as his talent level goes — to pry Glasnow away. The Cubs probably view Morel for Glasnow as an overpay because of how many years of control Morel has. The Rays may see him as superfluous as a right-handed hitter without a definite position. Maybe that changes if Tampa Bay trades any bats, but right now a legit starter with more control is their preference as the primary return in a potential Glasnow deal.

So yeah, one of Assad/Wesneski and a couple of guys from the back of the top 30?  Feels like this goes down shortly after there's clarity on Ohtani

Weird, hit the same thing on desktop but mobile  loading the tweet lets me autoplay.

Bruce says he thinks the Glasnow trade is going to happen, and potentially this week.  Also some less substantial commentary on Yamamoto and Bellinger.

Rays telling clubs that Glasnow wouldn’t cost much isn’t the Rays doing other clubs a solid. It’s because they know that whoever they do get, they will just turn into the next Glasnow.

Weird....if you click on the video it takes you to the Marquee site, but if you click on the actual tweet it just takes you to twitter and lets you watch it there.

Also....has Bruce Levine always looked like that?

These meetings have the potencial to be really boring . Glasnow probably won’t get move until Yamamoto signs and Yamamoto probably won’t sign until Ohtani does . Wouldn’t be surprised if the Cubs get out of these without making any moves .
