What does everyone here think the Cubs could of got in return for Maddux from the Dodgers? To think they could of got a top prospect is just insane.

 

Getting nothing back would literally have been better.

i love the fact that hendry says they discussed top prospects, but they said they needed them for lugo, so hendry just accepts that and takes a horrendous contract off their hands. what a pushover.

WEEI in Boston reported the Cubs trade of Maddux and a couple of the guys said they have no clue why the Cubs would make that move considering:

 

1) They now have a bunch of almost identical middle infielders

2) With this awful season they should be rebuilding by getting prospects instead.

 

Funny how even other teams sports guys know more than Hendry does.

 

I'm really disgusted with this organization - for years I've defended the Cubs when other fans made fun of them and laughed at their dismal records and called them patsies of the NL. I don't even have a comeback for that anymore, cause quite frankly, I agree!!!!

 

I don't even know what to look forward to anymore baseballwise.

They could have dealt for Tejada and moved Cedeno to 2B and not have had much of a dropoff in production from Izturis. Plus they would have had the extra money to pay Tejada's salary next year and still have some leftover cash to help out with some acquisitions and trades.

I think the strategy here is to make this team so bad that they get the top pick in the draft for 4 or 5 years, that way they can rebuild the minors, then by 2015 or so we might be able to compete again. Oh well I havent watched this team much this season anyway, Ive been watching the Tigers and the D-rays. At least the D-rays have some decent talent on thier team. Im looking forward to seeing what the Tigers can do. Been depressed with this Cubs team for quite some time. I think the announcement on a Dusty extention cant be far off. I hope that the Trib will fire MacPhail and Hendry and Baker but I doubt it cause fans will continue to pack Wrigley to watch this garbage team.

Ok..now we have Izturis, and he is pretty terrible. What is the most reasonable best case scenario? The only thing I can think of is that Izturis replaces Cedeno after the season at short and then they sign a second baseman. It's still worse than what we were yesterday, but it is possible they do that. I can't think of any other scenario that is decent at all.
