I bet you any money that all GMs are laughing hysterically at this trade. Hendry is a moron. Even I, who felt Hendry sucked didn't think he sucked this bad. This organization is going nowhere fast. By 2008 we will have Neifi clones at all positions.

This is funny-I've never seen a deal where both teams fans hate it worse then this. I've been going on to the Dodgers message boards to try to gauge their reaction, and I'm seeing a lot of the same thing, although more toned down then this. Needless to say, 85 percent of them hate the deal also. It's all very confusing.

weak press corps. fricken weak. you ask Todd Walker about how it is to have all these day games, but don't ask him about Dusty?

c'mon. have a testicle.

In all seriousness, how does a competitive ballplayer on this team come to work everyday and give 100% effort. The only thing they can be playing for is personal pride, and I'm not even sure very many of them have THAT anymore!!!!

I saw that also. It seems that Izz was a fan favorite. 90 percent of the fans I've chatted with hate this deal...

Why do you think DLEE is on the DL again?

To be fair, most people on Cubs.com seem to like it.

Bold Prediction:

Cubs finish with the worst record in the NL this year.

Edited:

And make their first pick in the '07 draft a high-school pitcher with a 95-mph fastball and poor control, so we can watch him flame out in A ball.

They make millions of dollars to play baseball. They better have something to play for.

Steve Stone on the Score670 believes this is a good move.

He believes it's good to get Izturis a good glove who is locked up contract wise.

Also, he says it is better than if the Cubs would have signed Furcal at the money the Cubs offered in the off season.

That's because Stone said we should have traded Ramirez for Izturis.

Yeah, Stone wanted to trade for him in early July, and he thinks Izturis/Cedeno would be our middle infield for "the next five years".

The people on the Dodger board are actually comparing Izturis to a young Omar Vizquel-they said he is getting better with the bat just like Omar did. I'm pretty sure I don't believe it, but I guess it makes me feel marginally better about the deal-doesn't mean I like it though.

I've had my points of defending him, giving him the benefit of the doubt that he was often in difficult situation, or at least softening the rhetoric of how bad some of the players acquired were.

this is about it. I thought he should be fired for months, but from here on out I'll be a little more vocal about it.

dusty seems to not want to start glendon.

probably the smartest thing he's ever said.

Realy?

Dusty with more brains than Hendry? Eh, they are both idiots who do not have a clue.

The ignorant masses would eat this one up. So many Chicago fans are so gung-ho about defense, that they think it's the only thing that matters. Trouble is they can't distinguish between football, basketball, hockey and baseball. They just want to see defense because it comes with the more manly tough guy image. Scoring is for pretty boys and pansies, real men play D and stop the opposition from scoring. They will buy into all the middle infielder defense BS as well as the former all star garbage and live it up.

Plus, most of them come with the "I don't care about the money, it's not mine" mindset because they aren't capable of understanding that if the team has a budget and spend X amount on one player, that is X amount that will come away from other areas.

Let's go Bears!!!

yeah. let those injuries begin. life of a Chicago sports fan, I fully expect to see this around Thanksgiving

I honestly dont mind this deal. Having a gold glove shortstop in Izturis and having a SS playing second in Cedeno can only help our young pitchers. Our defense up the middle will be spectacular.

Going to LA for Maddux is a good thing. I hope he plays great the rest of the year in that pitchers park. I'd love to see maddux go out on top or atleast pitching respectably.

I will say this why couldn't we have worked out a three way deal that would have landed us Lugo from the D-rays. I would have been much happier with that deal.

I happen to fully agree with Stone(I know, I blast him a lot), but you got a true SS, a switch hitter who doesn't strike out and a glod glove fielder vs 2 more months of Maddux.

That's fine if the Cardinals give us Pujols for cash considerations, DLee returns to '05 form and learns to play LF, the Mets trade us David Wright for Neifi, we trade Aramis for Ichiro, and Pierre has a 100 point jump in OBP.

We're going to need some offense.
