  1. I will be in Chavez Ravine for this one, hoping we score some runs today.
  2. I don't post often and even less the last few years, but i just now found this thread. As others mentioned, it did cross my mind a couple months ago that Fred must be ill to not be in the game thread. Fred was a reliable presence most notably in the dark days, and I'll miss his useless stats and his 'greetings from....' posts. I never met him, but he always seemed to be a really good guy, and the stories from those who did meet him put a smile on my face. I'm sorry to hear of his passing, and I like Tim's idea of making him a World Series game thread starter.
  3. I had a dream this past week that arrieta pitched a second no hitter this season, so this is probably that game.
  4. I will be in Atlanta to attend the games today and tomorrow with my wife and 4 year old. Driving north now! Edit- actually my wife is driving while i pretend to work on the iPad.
  5. Love it! :flythew:
  6. Difficult concentrating at work today. Let's do this!
  7. That Gus Mahlzan revolutionary offense managed to get 327 yds total offense, good for last in the SEC by a good margin. Yeesh. a lot will have to happen before I distrust Gus's offensive scheme and play calling ability, but he does need either a qb who can read the defense and throw to a second or third receiver (or throw the ball away). Or, he needs a dual threat qb who can execute the read option at a high level. Jeremy Johnson was supposed to be the former, but his decision making ability was poor in the first game. Auburn didn't look very good against Washington State the first game of 2013 with a new qb, so I will watch another game or two before I jump off a cliff.
  8. Auburn is definitely overrated unless they tremendously improve at qb. Also Carl Lawson can't miss significant time this season as he changes the game when he's playing.
  9. So I watched the chatanooga lookouts and mobile baybears play yesterday. Byron Buxton and Miguel Sano are both physically impressive. The wind was howling and Buxton is able to cover a lot of ground in the OF. Sano's arm strength at 3B definitely caught my attention, and he seems to have fully recovered from tommy john surgery. Sano also hit a hr, his 10th of the year.
  10. I give a [expletive] about baseball again. This is great!
  11. Thomas Bryant seems like a pretty big deal for 15/16 IU basketball. That team could be good if Yogi and Troy Williams stay. Any chance in hell Thon Maker also joins this class? I've been a critic of Crean, but the Bryant commitment does offer hope for a tournament run.
  12. Love to hear glass and Izzo talking up Crean....best news possible for the future of IU basketball.
  13. Pleased with what Auburn did today and hoping Byron cowart will make a significant contribution year 1.
  14. I could post screenshots from my Facebook newsfeed. Though, most of my Alabama fan friends knew they didn't have a dominant team this year.
  15. so...Duke Williams has been suspended for the bowl game against Wisconsin (heard he got into a bar fight). However, he has announced he is going to return next year for his senior season instead of declaring for the draft. This was a bit surprising as he was graded at late first round or middle of the second from what I heard. Sammie Coates is declaring for the draft.
  16. I missed several items in the detail work during the first read. It didn't disappoint and thanks for putting it together!
  17. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/12021731/will-muschamp-agreed-become-auburn-tigers-defensive-coordinator
  18. Houston interviewed Muschamp for their head coaching vacancy yesterday, but I'm hearing now that Muschamp is withdrawing his name, and the 247 Auburn site is reporting that Muschamp is on the verge of being named AU's defensive coordinator. The announcement will be made this weekend, and he will be bringing former Auburn player and secondary coach at Florida, Travaris Robinson, with him. As far as I'm concerned, this isn't over until a formal announcement is made, but Phillip Marshall sounds pretty confident in this latest report made a few minutes ago. edit - he's the only one reporting this so far. second edit - JC Shurburtt now indicating he is hearing the same.
  19. Jesus, I wonder what it's like to have a team with players over 6'9' that can play basketball. Tell me again why Crean wasn't able to recruit a big man this past year and doesn't have one joining the team next season either?
  20. Auburn has an offer of around 1.5 million per year on the table with Muschamp. I'm hearing Memphis defensive coordinator Barry Odom may be considered if Muschamp isn't hired.
