  1. is Hinske still the 1b coach going into 2015?
  2. part of me hopes manfred finally puts a dh in both leagues not only so a teams salary matches distribution fairly but also so that vogelbach has a chance to play w the cubs because he is a good hitter who will be worth a david ortiz / mo vaughn type spot
  3. because he is Kris Bryant's top ZiPS comp

  5. I just called into the Cubs phone number and asked for Jim Hen Theo Epstein to encourage him to work out a deal for Jon Lester. I know I'm crazy but what can I say? His secretary said he was in a meeting (maybe working on the contract for Lester?) so he couldn't take my call. I ended up leaving him a message telling her that I know Theo will do his best to counter the Heyward trade. I told her that I'm hoping Lester will be that player. The secretary said Theo will appreciate my kind words. 1) your a jerk for not calling Jeb and MC Cloud too 2) it's not even 2015 yet thanks for curising the cobs by posting that world series crap that isn't even real 3) yet
  6. that doesn't even have subtitles how is anyone supposed to know what you mean so offensive
  7. yeah, hey! let's try to encourage a player to sign with the cubs by showing that endearing stalker spirit of scheduling unnecessary doctor appointments as a guise to get some insider info! GOOD IDEA!
  8. pretty sure i recall tim throwing out the idea of starting nsbb on the cubs.com mb, and the crew of now mods and that one kid who did kung fu and at some point did concessions in the bleachers all kind of commiserated into nsbb.
  9. it's not weird to be aggressive when confronting "rape jokes." i'm not going to apologize because i'm a literature major and the editor in chief of a poetry journal. the sports world doesn't typically see stuff like the #yesallwomen movement so i have to speak up or i am more to blame. but i think the kind of joking manner which unraveled after the term was taken to task spoke even greater about how using rape in that way is taken lightly. i get we're mostly men here. so it's not often the matter is going to be illuminated. but i can't say i believe what i do & not say these things definitively and loudly.
  10. you all do realize what you're saying when you refer to sexual acts against someone's will as a metaphor for something good (or, in the case of sports talk, often a show of power, essentially) you're doing something really fucked up, right? this is not being politically correct to state. rape is something that is very serious & absolutely ruins peoples lives. like, in what possible way could the metaphor be useful? and don't mansplain. quite a decent percent of the people on this message board are reasonably intelligent individuals who understand abstract math principals on some level and are able to interpret often complicated information and evaluate that then form as good of an opinion on that data as possible and explain it to others in a clear way. it's not simply unfortunate that people with this ability don't see such an egregious manner of speech as something so destitute and irresponsible that it doesn't occur to them to even use rape or molestation as metaphors for anything, let alone acts of men imposing their power upon objects. a baseball or a pitcher or anything like that is not a child or a woman or a man or any other variation of a human being who is forcefully subdued by sex. that's fucked up. please do everyone a favor and stop using rape as even a near positive likeness of any other act. do yourself a favor and consider what you're actually saying. there is not explaining it away or lessening what was said. just stop.
  11. do people still use boner when someone goofs up?
  12. Schwarber spat on it, Baez Big Dicked it. What's next?
  13. really i haven't felt this good as a cubs fan since the atlanta series when wood doubled off the wall at turner field in 2003 edit: no irony was intended here being that travis wood is pitching against the braves today
  14. has been a major league baseball player for a few days now, i hear. like other major league baseballers on the chicago cubs, here is a thread just for Arismendy Alcantara. http://worldseriesdreaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/AlCONTRA-594x320.png
