Harvey Updyke, the man who poisoned the trees at Toomer's Corner, was attacked after a hearing today at a gas station and was sent to the ER. Nothing like losing perspective about something less important by attacking a man who did something after losing perspective on something even less important.

Spurrier addressed oversigning today by saying it's a bit embarrassing for them, but he likes the current rules due to poor academics in the state. At least he's honest about the kind of kids he recruits, I guess.

Looks like Notre Dame dropped their demand for Northwestern to host a game at Soldier Field if a home and home was ever scheduled. Northwestern plays at Notre Dame in 2014 and Notre Dame comes to Evanston, hopefully to a renovated Ryan Field, in 2018. This takes the place of a 2014/2015 home and home with Stanford. Brilliant marketing move. They got a larger visitor's allotment than normal and since tickets in NU's allotment for road games is only available to season ticket holders and donors, they can move season tickets based on a road game. Won't be an easy schedule with Cal and Vandy also scheduled, though. Not to mention we get Ohio State and Wisconsin from the Leaders division that year.

It's more than just ticket prices, though. It's anticipation of how fast tickets will sell and the secondary market. This is the first year that people realized that only the most desired games are going to sell out. Before, people would buy up whatever tickets they could since they knew others were going to do the same. The demand was elevated beyond the level of what people actually wanted to buy. Without that anticipation of a buying frenzy, there's no reason to settle for the games that people never really wanted to attend that much in the first place.
