Anyone hear a recent update about the friendly in Cairo on February 9th? Last I saw they were still planning on making the trip.

The Iowa stuff is pretty scary. According to Joe Schad, an Iowa parent said that one player lost 20-30% of his kidney function and may never get it back. And some players have gained 30-50 pounds because of the amount of fluids that have been forced into their bodies since being hospitalized.

You also won't know when it ends and a replay begins. During about the 3rd viewing you'll realize you've missed most of the Super Bowl and you'll be happy about it.

I'm curious what more you want him to say than what he already has. i would like to see him refer to said fans as meatballs. Pretty much. I mean really go after the fans. Just tell them they don't know [expletive] about sports injuries and to at least go on wikipedia the next time they want to attack one of their player's manhood just to feel better about their own sexual shortcomings. Or something like that.

I want to see Angelo go on the attack against the dumbass fans and media and try to set an example for other sports organizations. The Bears would be in a good position to do it, too, since it's not like they'd lose out on ticket sales or other means of financial support.

Both Sadie and Shang look like they have the tools to dominate, but I just don't see the motivation.

If you're talking about the 3rd down pass on I believe the 1st or 2nd drive, the throw was fine. Hester stopped the route and picked it up again too late. Should've been 6. I thought it ran out of bounds. Didn't Hester leap up as the ball sailed over his head? From what I saw live and on the big screen, it might have led him out of bounds, but it should have been catchable. I think he reached for it a bit, but it wasn't close. It was out in front of him, not over his head. But he clearly hesitated way too much in the middle of that route bout the time Cutler was releasing the ball.

Oversigning is really just now starting to catch on with the national media on a consistent basis helped by real stories of kids getting screwed (see the ESPN OTL piece done on LSU). But conferences (SEC and Big 12) aren't going to limit the practice on their own in any significant way. It's really up to the national media to shame coaches and programs into changing. Hopefully the Big Ten conference can use their standing to make it more of an issue. Up until now they've been pretty quiet about it going on nationwide. You also have to remember that most football recruits think very highly of their own abilities. They're not afraid of competition. It's hard to take a step back and ask how I'm going to fit into a program that's signing nearly 2x as many recruits as scholarships available. You should check out oversigning.com. That's a lot of roster cuts, gray shirts, and bogus medical hardships.

According to @CFTalk, a press release from Iowa says that 12 football players are recovering after being hospitalized Monday, but names and conditions were withheld. Any speculation about what that's about?

It's not popularity, it's just favorite sport. I'd imagine that if you're a fan of track and field, you're more likely to have that as your favorite sport than anything else. Perhaps same with bowling. Golf, on the other hand, could be a 3rd or 4th favorite sport for many more people than track and field, but it's not a top favorite.

It hasn't sunk in at all that I'm going to head down to Soldier Field soon to see the Bears host the Packers for the NFC Championship. Crazy. It's both good and bad that I'll be listening to the Northwestern vs. Wisconsin game up until 30 minutes prior to kickoff. That'll keep me distracted.

You slept? Amazingly. Not great sleep. I think I was up from 1:45 to 3 and woke up a couple more times, but overall I got enough. I got a crapload of warm clothing from my younger brother, including boots. I would've been screwed without all that stuff. I would be looking forward to this experience, but since I'm in row 35 of a 400 level section, there's no way I can hit the bathroom during the game without missing at least some action. I got caught in the bathroom line for the Divisional Playoff game against Seattle 4 years back and despite being in the 1st row of 440, I had to bail out of the bathroom with halftime winding down. Just barely made it back to my seat. Took my about 5 minutes just to leave the line and get out of the bathroom, too.
