  1. I haven't posted in a long, long, LONG time as my life really doesn't have room for message board posting anymore. But I'm alive and well and rooting for one very historic Cubs win!
  2. I sent Tim a PM about this too, but I've concluded that due to business at work and changing priorities as I get older I'm no longer able to devote the time that this league deserves, and in fairness to the league I should turn my team over to someone who can devote more effort than I can at the moment. I've spent almost no time on NSBB recently and haven't been thinking about my team for next year. It's possible that in the future my time constraints will ease up (there's plenty of precedent in this league for somebody dropping out, then returning in the future), but for now I feel this is the best course of action.
  3. Makes up for the slowdown caused by Crane Kenney. :-)
  4. MUCH better now. Next comes the crash when Epstein is announced as GM. :D
  5. Actually it was his Achilles this time. His annual season-ending injury before practice even begins.
  6. I got the internal service error message yesterday. I haven't today (I haven't been on much because of work), but the slow response time is occurring way too often.
  7. If I hold on to win this week it will be due to my kicker. 34 points from Janikowski; just wow.
  8. I think he fits more in the category of obscure as a Cub, but Marvell Wynne.
  9. 60 years ago today..... THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! It was Oct. 3, 1951 when Bobby Thomson hit "the shot heard 'round the world," a walk-off home run to beat the Dodgers in the deciding game of a tie-breaker series to determine the NL champion (back then the tie-breaker was a three-game series, not a single game as it is now).
  10. It's on again this Wednesday, 9:00 P.M. Eastern time on ESPN and this coming Saturday, 8:00 A.M. Eastern time on ESPN2.
  11. Shocking news: Bob Sanders was placed on IR today.
  12. With a third team involved.
  13. If he didn't rest tonight he certainly would have tomorrow, being a day game after a night game.
  14. The Neifi homer was against the Giants on the final day of the season. The day Neifi really did save the Cubs. It was like 30 seconds after the Cubs game ended that day, correct? Pretty much. I remember feeling down after the Cubs lost that day, but it wasn't very long before excitement set in.
