  1. You’re ranting about how they might not be able to do it just because past teams did it. This team did it. If they find themselves 5-6 back again they may or may not come back, but they certainly can, because they already did in April and it has nothing to do with past years. you're interpreting the things i said based on the way he responded to them. i said they're going to fall 5-6 games back. he immediately jumped to talking about how that's no big deal because what's happened in the past. then i pointed out that having done it in the past doesn't mean it's something that will be easily repeated, or that can be counted on. i didn't imply anything more about a 5 game deficit than the obvious, which is that it would suck and make the job in the second half more difficult. No. You said they’ll fall 5-6 back. He pointed out that if that happens they’ve proven they can come back from that type of deficit. Then you started ranting about how “what they’ve done in past years doesn’t matter.” I pointed out that it wasn’t past years. They did literally this thing you are talking about in April. April was this year. Beyond that, I truly don’t care.
  2. They did it in April. i didn't imply the cubs couldn't come back from 5-6 games back You’re ranting about how they might not be able to do it just because past teams did it. This team did it. If they find themselves 5-6 back again they may or may not come back, but they certainly can, because they already did in April and it has nothing to do with past years.
  3. You want this team to fail. I get it. You wanted the same thing last year also. I do believe in this team and think they’re going through a rough stretch. Does that mean they will be fine? Of course not. But yes, I do think they’re a good team. Regardless of what I think about them, you implying a 5-6 game deficit to the Brewers is insurmountable is absurd. I didn't say it was insurmountable. You implied that it would be no big deal because past teams did it, and I pointed out the problem with that thinking. This is after you moved the goal posts from when you previously said the brewers schedule didnt matter and that they wouldnt pull ahead of the cubs. I get it, I whine in game threads a lot. but right now the organization really isnt in a very good spot going forward, so maybe you should accept that. I understand that we should be thankful for what the Cubs have done in the last 5 years, but the actions of the organization in the last couple years dont warrant your defense. they should be criticized heavily for what they're doing. They did it in April.
  4. Eflin and Jake both have big L/R splits. He’s just trying to get as many lefties in as he can.
  5. The Cubs payroll is only 2nd (or 3rd, the Yankees are about even) because other teams came back to them. Other owners being cheap doesn’t make the Cubs owners not cheap. It’s fair to criticize the Cubs spending even though other big market teams stopped spending, too.
  6. That’s a terrible idea. Russell for Happ? Sure. Russell can go for anybody. Zagunis for Happ? That’s fine. Zagunis sucks. I’d still prefer that Happ starts slugging above .380 vs AAA pitching with a juiced ball before he returns.
  7. The new Fangraphs mock has Logan Davidson to the Cubs. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/mock-draft-2-0/
  8. Eh, he's a below-average runner and I think he's going to slow down even more as he gets older. I think he'd be pretty bad in LF. I believe he's a 1B only prospect. The bat is pretty solid and he has amazing discipline. Right now he has 43 BB to 25 K on the year. Overall, in college he's 109:68 BB/K. I think he'll post good OBP in the big leagues too, but maybe not a high-average. I don’t watch a lot of college baseball, but just reading stat lines he’s one of my favorite bats that will probably be available when the Cubs pick. Him being a 1b only makes it tough to pick him, but if he could bounce around like Bellinger or Muncy and with the DH coming he’d be interesting.
  9. Is Logan Wyatt a first base only prospect, or does he have a chance to play elsewhere?
  10. Oladipo/Zeller Hoosiers?
  11. The Dodgers were under the tax line last year. Only Boston and Washington spent above the CBT. This has to change in the next CBA, right? This system encourages high spending teams to spend less every other year. What’s the last major win by the Players Union? This has been a gradual move in the owners direction for decades and the players extended Tony Clark as Union leader. I’d expect it’ll continue to move in the owners direction moving forward.
  12. They are also currently 9 million under cap and we are over by 14 million. Which doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things because if they don't move another $20+ million this will be their 3rd consecutive year over and the penalties start getting really ridiculous. EDIT: And they just blew most of that on Joe Kelly. The Dodgers were under the tax line last year. Only Boston and Washington spent above the CBT.
  13. That one dude ABTY or whatever it was threw a fit awhile back and now mostly rants and raves about the Bears on Twitter. There was another guy, Marlin, I think, who knew some stuff. I only ever lurked on there time to time. A few other guys here might know more. Marlin was legit. He hasn’t had anything interesting in a while, so I’m not sure if he still has a contact, but he had a few scoops years ago. ABTY always made Charles the Cat look like Ken Rosenthal.
  14. Roster Resource says he has one option left. That seems right from scanning his career but I never feel confident about this. Arizona Phil will be able to confirm soon enough. Not AZ Phil, but he does have an option remaining.
  15. It’s a benefit that’s wasted on Arizona. They aren’t going near the tax anyway. You’d think if they can’t offload his contract in another trade they would be willing to swap him for a bad salary player that can play for them in the majors.
