  1. My top three. First, going way back was Gary Scott. I thought he was going to be the one. Next, was Kevin Orie. I met Orie in Houston when he was a rookie and that encounter made me a fan. Murton, who was already mentioned was my third. I even have one of his game-worn DJaxx jerseys that he signed to me that was able to get through Cubbie Chris. I thought for sure he was going to be a solid regular.
  2. It's more of my daughter's roommate is related to someone who has access to people who work for the Cubs. My daughter said she heard something to that effect when I was discussing Tucker. So lots of heresay, and probably just noise, but I did offer it up.
  3. I would have had to get the whole suit.
  4. I have already made a post about this on my social media accounts, but this hit me hard. Ryno was my all-time favorite player. I remember the first time I got his autograph in person. My only trip to Cooperstown was to watch his HoF induction. On the Monday following, one of the coolest moments of my life was when I was selected to ask him a question on an ESPN broadcast. I tried to name my son after him, but my wife wouldn;t agree. I am not usually affected by celebrity deaths or athlete deaths, even of those who I really enjoyed watching etc...but this one hit. 5. I am not sure his asks. He seemed enthusiastic about the draft but also grew up an LSU fan and has a full ride there for baseball and said he would get NIL money there. So, not sure... but if he ended up on the Cubs, I would be stoked. He knows I will be his fan either way... and as a joke on his last day of class, he took his student id and signed it and gave it to me. Told him one day, that could be my 1:1 piece of memorabilia.
  6. I am just hoping to see my student William Patrick taken early today. We were hoping he would go third round, but it didn't happen. He's a good kid and will go to LSU if not taken, but I know he's wanting to go.
  7. Thanks! He's a really good kid, so will be excited to see where he ends up. I didn't get as much a chance to watch him play, but the couple games I did, there were always 3-4 scouts there.
  8. So draft guys, what can you tell me about the draft prospects of William Patrick. He got an invite to the MLB combine and is an LSU commit. I taught him this year and he's a good kid and great athlete.
  9. Let's go, Mavs!
  10. Two nice Marmol stories. First, when the Cubs moved their minor league affiliate from West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx, the DJaxx put old jerseys for sale and I bought Carlos Marmol's minor league jersey from AA which I was able to later get him to sign. Secondly, when my daughter was four years old (so 2008), we went to see the Cubs in SD. While standing at the dugout before the game, Marmol saw my daughter in her Cubs t-shirt and pointed her out and tossed her a ball. And here's me with Carlos Marmol in 2007.
  11. I have a Matt Murton game worn West Tenn Diamond Jaxx jersey, so there's that.
