so, when does Jacque get his first hit??

....Pagan's already had TWO. I'm just saying....

they'd be better off putting Z in RF when he doesn't pitch

why does everyone get so excited for a squeeze?

Because it tells us that Dusty has at least some brain activity.

the squeeze is little more than a show off move for the manager. it's unnecessarily risky.

Not with a great bunter like Pierre hitting. It's not very risky at all. .

you do realize that he ended up getting a hit, right? wouldn't you take that over a run scoring sac bunt or a rally killing caught stealing?

You realize that nearly all of the outs Pierre makes are pop ups and weak grounders right? Neither give a great chance for a runner at third to score. Yes, he got a hit, but it was more likely that he doesn't get the runner hom if he swings away. The squeeze was a good move.

It's a good thing the offense is hitting the ball so well outside all these DP's. What are the odds that we have 3 of them and none of them came off Neifi's bat?

Jeez, another GIDP.

Since Suppan is going to be up in the next inning, will the Cards keep him in, or make a switch?

Did I say I wanted him to do a squeeze? I just argued against you, that it's not much of a risk when you have one of the best bunters at the plate.

There were about 30% odds of Pierre getting a hit.

Another stinky AB - 3 pitches, 3 swinging Ks with 2 whiffs.

When do we start a Pagan BandWGN?

I'll drive! :-)

Hey, I want to drive! Take turns?

Or if you insist on driving, I'll drink!

I gotta disagree with you here. A lot of Juan Pierre's AVG and OBP is generated from infield/bunt hits. The chance to score the runner and be safe at 1st is pretty good, IMO.

Couldn't have said it better, BBB.

What's the longest a batter has gone hitless to start the season? 100 AB, 200 AB? I think Jones has an excellent chance to go 0 for April and May.

Eckstein just threw a 15 mph throw to first base with the wind at his back.

Eckstein throws like a Little leageur, its pathetic. really it is. He gets the job done but its so sorrry.

Probably a little higher than that since the infield was drawn in.

I love how he was intentionally walked earlier in the game....

Jackie Robinson honored in a beer commercial. Now his legacy will live on.

It's not like MLB retired his number major leagues-wide or anything, so I'm glad he got some more recognition.

And he just explained exactly why it is a risk.

Where did I say it is not a risk? I said it's not very risky. I didn't say it's not risky. With the Combo we had. Speedy Cedeno at 3rd, and Pierre at bat. That's exactly when I want to see a squeeze. Why are we even argueing about this, he got the hit anyway?

Baseball politics says that you don't bench the $15 million player for the league minimum player no matter how bad the overpaid player sucks
