Gameday said that Neifi hit the ball in play and an out was recorded, but then it said he singled right after that.

 

I thought it was a catchable ball, but So pulled up and it dropped. The Encarnacion fly ball was catchable also, IMO.

FWIW, I like the idea of a squeeze with Pierre, because there's also a chance that Pierre makes it to first as well as the run scoring.

More than anything today, I've been impressed with Maddux so far. He's averaging about 11 pitches per inning, and getting a ton of groundouts. Let's hope he keeps it up.
