  1. My question is.....do the Mets have a more GB friendly reliever warmed up and ready to come in to improve the chances of a double play since it was already a bad situation of having PCA on 2b with no outs to start the inning. You get the K you need to make a double play possible, but then just pitch to one of the best contact hitters in baseball with no DP option on the table since no one was on 1st. Whether you pitch to Busch or Bregman to try to induce that GB is based on what arm the reliever coming in throws with. It was an impossible situation, but pitching to Nico seems like the craziest idea and I'm certainly thrilled that they chose that route. Not only is Nico a great contact hitter, but he's leading the NL in RBI.
  2. If we think the Cubs roster has been depleted of pitchers, I can't imagine what it's looking like in Iowa right now.
  3. CBS feed is suffering some major feedback. I change channels and it’s fine. Even the commercials are fuzzy. Weird.
  4. Sure seems like they have been garbage to me. Looking at the splits, I'd say yeah, they've mostly sucked so far.
  5. Scheffler is knocking on the door.
  6. I forgot about those two. They weren't in the starting line up the other day and I thought the starting line up looked like ass.
  7. Is there a single player on the roster worth keeping around, or should we expect to see even further tear down on this rebuild?
  8. So good to see Busch proving he needs to be playing every day. I think the cold weather had a lot to do with the infield looking a bit slow getting after ground balls. I'm not concerned about Bregman at 3b. Yesterday's umpire was really bad at calling balls and strikes. So many balls that could have been challenged, and when they finally challenge one, they end up challenging one that was actually a strike. Frustrating.
  9. So Tucker got 57m and Hoerner, Bregman and Shaw will make something similar to that combined for a similar length of time as Tucker's deal. I'm imagining that if the Cubs gave Tucker that deal, Shaw would be manning 3b and they'd be looking for a replacement 2b next year. I think the Cubs are better with those three over giving Tucker all of that money. And that's ignoring his amazing ability to miss games.
  10. Mine wasn't concern. It was simply asking the question based on not watching spring training and on who made the opening day roster. I heard both catchers got some reps at 1b, but didn't hear how many or whether it was working out.
  11. Who is resting Busch at 1b? Any word on Tyler Austin's injury?
  12. Sure would have been nice if those Cunningham picks came through. Couple a compensatory pick in the 3rd that with a 3rd or 4th for Bagent and they would be sitting quite pretty for the draft. Last year, I sat there and watched the whole draft waiting for the Bears to take an EDGE. I don't think they can skip that position this time. DL, DE, S, C seem like highly anticipated top 4 picks in this draft. All supposedly strong draft class positions this year. There is estimated to be over 30 "draftable" EDGE rushers in this draft.
  13. I don't know that I agree with "worse" at CB. One of Cam Lewis, Zah Frazier or Terell Smith should be able to replace the snaps we got from Nahshon Wright. Wright had some great plays during the season, but he also got badly burned often enough to make it a wash. I know you already mentioned the draft, but Loveland, Burden, Trapilo and Monangai ended up closing holes that we were likely discussing after the first wave of free agency last year. So how many "worse" designations will we really have once the draft is complete and the final wave of free agency signings is complete? Much like last year, most of the guys the Bears signed this year are mostly guys none of us were discussing prior to free agency. It was a much taller task to make room in the budget this year. Dalman returning and a healthy Trapilo sure would have been nice prior to free agency. I can definitely see the "meh" in the overall additions to the team. I suppose we have to hope that players returning from injury make a bigger impact this year. I still don't think we can rule out Bagent being traded.
  14. You say that, but there have already been at least 3 days in the 70's already this year, and one of those was in the 80's. Monday was 38 degrees above normal in my area.
  15. Strange use of a fake account. But I see Jackson back on a similar type of deal.
  16. This cat they traded for at C has a PFF rating of 30th out of 44 Centers. But he gave up zero sacks in 624 pass play snaps. I don't know how a guy would grade out 30th out of 32 starters with zero sacks given up, but I'm going to trust the decision makers don't put much stock in PFF grades.
  17. The Dahlman retirement announcement only adds about 10m in cap space.
  18. We are one week away from the official legal tampering period of NFL free agency. Probably have no idea yet how much money the Bears have to spend in free agency. I heard some reworked contracts and the new cap have created 85m in spendable money, but I can't confirm if that's true or not.
  19. I turned on the Blackhawks game with a 2-1 lead in the 3rd period, only to watch them lose 4-2. Not fun.
  20. The most significant problem I see with your theory/theorem is Bregman isn't really replacing Shaw. Shaw is still here.
  21. It's going to happen regardless of how rich the owner is. It's in the rich man's playbook. Make the taxpayers build it and then make the taxpayers pay to go see it.
  22. LOL. Glad someone pointed that out. Self made and marrying into money are certainly not the same. Same result, but different ways of getting there. And Kroenke walked away from a several year lease in St. Louis.
