  1. Excellent point regarding who you pinch hit for. A dominant RH bench is fine in this instance.
  2. I think the current roster is complete. If they do anything at this point, it would be a trade deadline move, and not a big one unless they felt comfortable enough to blow past the LT at that point.
  3. Let's talk about Shaw, Ballesteros and Alcantara..... 1) Alcantara has no options remaining. Sending him down exposes him to waivers. Not happening. He's also the only current good defensive CF replacement if PCA were to miss time. Shaw might be okay there, but again, Alcantara can't be sent down. He's your 4th outfielder. Period. 2) Shaw is clearly the current utility de jour. He has the ability to play all over the field, and he might be the best utility infielder in MLB this year. 3) Ballesteros is the only current lefty bat of all possible bench/DH options. Could you sign a Tauchman or the like to allow Ballesteros to sit in AAA? Sure. Can they find a better bat than Ballesteros to be the lefty side of DH? Probably not. The question for me is, is there a future for Ballesteros behind the plate? If not, he's your DH platoon from the left side. He's also your first PH bat against RHP off the bench. So he's actually penciled in as a starter on my roster. 4) Tyler Austin is likely the 4th bench player, after winning the battle with Jonathan Long in ST. Likely winning it simply because Long has options and Austin was signed to be here. Barring bringing someone else in, I think the offensive roster is set with Jaguar, Shaw, MoBaller and Tyler Austin.
  4. I had to stare at "incomplete" for awhile. Haven't heard that term for a missed field goal in a long time, but I think that was the standard term for a missed field goal many moons ago.
  5. I thought Green Bay really blew it with the clock management. If Doubs just falls down on the catch, the clock becomes a huge factor the rest of the way.
  6. And how about the effort by Trapilo to get off the field so they wouldn’t lose the time out.
  7. Just finished rewatching the game. That delay of game on GB was the difference in making or missing that field goal, which puts GB at 30 and only needing a field goal to win the game on that final drive. There was also the missed extra point that could have potentially created a tie at the end. Both of those assume the K wasn’t too traumatized to miss again at the end of the game.
  8. Just imagining that it allows the team to stay intact as it's currently constructed, allows moves at the deadline and keeps the team under the LT.
  9. Commesso's performance last night in the 3rd period is what legends are made of. Most people didn't see it since it was happening during the Bears come from behind victory against GB, but the dude was cool as hell under a barrage of attacks.
  10. There was some mention of LeFleur being on the hot seat after that. Imagine losing the way they did in the last meeting, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. They had some very questionable decisions leading up to the Bears coming back and winning that game. Last night, LeFleur gets an F- on clock management in the 4th quarter. Thanks, LaFleur.
  11. Took me a long time to get the heart rate down slow enough to fall asleep. Watched way more post game than I care to.
  12. I love going back and reading all of the doom bonering in these game threads after a crazy come from behind victory. Frankly, I'd be the same negative Nancy if I was posting during games, but I just don't like posting when I'm watching games. Thanks to those of you that do, as I enjoy these threads with my morning coffee. Amazing that the Bears went with navy blue/navy blue considering their history vs. the Packers with that combo. I guess they don't care about superstitions. You can all thank me for this victory. Told the wife I was watching this game from bed in the second half, and that decision is exactly why, and the only reason, they came back and won. Now I have to watch all future games in bed to keep the streak alive. Glad I have a 65" tv in the bedroom. Oh, and the Blackhawks were on a 32" on the dresser, so it's like a man cave where you can lay down.
  13. He doesn't appear to be the long term answer, but given how giving Carolina has been for the Bears, I'm happy you got a playoff game out of him anyway. I was cheering for them to win that one.
  14. It's probably a battle between Long and Austin for the RH DH job in ST, with Austin having the leg up since he was brought in for that purpose.
  15. Tucker was my want, but as long as they don't trade Nico to get back under the LT, I'm cool with Bregman. This is a team you can pencil into the playoffs today. Bench bats as of now are Amaya/Kelly, Shaw, Austin/Ballesteros and Alcantara. Ballesteros is the only lefty bat in that bunch, but I'm not complaining. It's a lot of pop and I'll take that over handedness on the bench.
  16. Chances that there are more people on the team bench than in the stands tonight?
  17. I think you can cross the Raiders off the list. I can't imagine John and Jim being in the same division on arguably one of the ugliest rivalries in NFL history. They literally cut off beer sales early to limit ugly situations from taking place.
  18. Same here. Actually, I'm not really sure Detroit was really that motivated. Chicago just looked that bad on defense. I'm going to go ahead and pick the Bears to win on Saturday night, though. Doubt I'll get ridiculed out of the forum if I'm wrong. LOL. They have to continue pressuring Love into making a bad throw. His lollipops are just asking to be picked off. Not necessarily saying to blitz, but figure out a way to get some pressure on him, even with an unexpected blitz here and there. The drop off from Love to whatever their #3 QB's name is will be significant if they can get to Love early.
  19. I would be surprised if they dealt arms at the deadline. Did you see the playoffs last year? They were scrambling to find a fresh arm.
  20. Correct. I don't always think straight with my morning coffee. Well, maybe never actually.
  21. I'm not a Jed apologist or defender in general, but this was likely a playoff caliber team without the addition of Cabrera. Was it a compete with the Dodgers roster? No. The Cabrera/Ryan/Gore options were available all offseason. It's quite possible that trading for Cabrera in November/December might have been at a much higher cost like the trade deadline. They've been shopping for a SP and a bat all offseason and it's no secret. When those additions get made probably has a lot to do with the cost and demand. That you call it a narrow path is not even close to accurate. The Cubs have massive resources to trade for talent and a bit of cash below the LT to sign players. They could realistically go over the LT if the value dictated it. And they may still do that come the trade deadline and this team is locked into the playoffs. I still want Tucker and Tucker seems like he could still be an option until he isn't. If it ends up being Bichette, it's likely the brass felt it was better value. Tucker could end up being Kris Bryant for all we know. Being a GM seems to require patience and not leaping at the first opportunity, unless you are the Dodgers and have the money to just defer everyone. Especially when Boras has his fingers in everyone's pie.
  22. Seattle only has to win one game to get home field for the division championship. I don't like the chances of the Bears having a home game in that game. But, it is possible. Whoever gets Seattle will have to have the game of their life. Seattle looked really good against SF.
  23. It was what everyone here was screaming about pre-draft and even free agency. I can guarantee that you can find "get rid of Dominique Robinson" posts from 2 years ago in this forum. We were all waiting to see what EDGE the Bears were going to draft in the first round, second round, third round, fourth round, etc.... Dayo was not on anyone here's wish list this past offseason. Not sure how we felt about Grady Jarrett, but age was certainly discussed. They failed to address the biggest hole on the roster and it's the worst part of their team today, but we are in the playoffs and they got farther than we ever expected them to, thanks to the draft picks (and OLine) they did bring in. This coming offseason, they must address the DLine. Hopefully there are guys who actually want to come to Chicago to be part of something special.
  24. Vinny Testaverde is a HOFer. If Testaverde is a HOF, Stafford is first ballot.
