That was ugly.

Hopefully the Cubs have someone warming up in the pen, in case Maddux self-destruct or something. He didn't look too good at the batter's box.

If Cubs pitchers retire the next 9 in order, we don't have to face Pujols and Rolen again until tomorrow...{wishful thinking}

Maddux at 74 pitches thru 6, are you watching Zambrano and Rusch? Pretty simple, get the ball, throw strikes.

In all fairness, Z and Rusch were pitching in GABP, while Maddux is pitching at Wrigley with the wind blowing in at 25 MPH. I think Maddux has it a little bit easier, but he's still pitching a great game.

Ron Santo, you suck as an announcer.

"Encarnacion is a good ballplayer."

No he is not Ron. He is terrible. Why is it that so many baseball people insist on being overly complementary to everybody. There is no such thing as a below average pitching coach, a bad manager, an undeserving regular. Everybody is at least good.

He's comparing him to every person that has ever played baseball at any level.

I'll give Ron a break - he's essentially "player emeritus" for the org. and is beloved by most fans that I know. He's a terrible color man...which is why I keep the NSBB game thread open while listening on the radio.

You listen to Ron for ridiculous statements and guttural noises, not information.

He supposely "tweaked" something when he was pitching, and went down to the dugout, and he just looked frozen/slow when he hit that grounder.

Stupid Edmonds.

Just started watching the game, but why didn't Dusty go out and check on Maddux after that awkward release?

Que paso?

Without having any knowledge of what happened, I'd bet it was no big deal and Maddux would have known if there was a problem or not.

Barrett went out, if there had been an issue, then he would have.

Either way, I hope Maddux is taken out of this one. The lead is safe with this bullpen.

Pujols popped up! hahaha. This is the best game ever!

I've seen too many "best games ever" against these guys that turn out to be "worst games ever."

I'm not counting chickens til eggs have hatched. on total pins and needles here at work.

edit: I was typing this as Edmonds was rounding the bases
