He got the last out in the 7th

And then walked a guy. That is 2 batters. I thought the rule of only having to get the last out of an inning only works if they actually take him out after that. When he stayed in he had to face 3 guys. But I am not sure about that. Which is why I asked.

He doesn't have to face three batters in that situation. You were right

Cubs have had a runner in scoring position in 7 of their 8 innings, and have only scored in 2 of those innings (on solo HRs and an infield single and error)

So I was right he had to stay in or he doesn’t have to face 3 batters.

It feels exactly like the PCA cycle game. But the Sox are the team of enchantment and it’s illegal for them to lose a game like this.

If a reliever closes the previous inning, he does not have to face 3 batters

He could have been pulled at any point and besides no one was even warming up so even if there was a 3 batter minimum in effect Craig had no thoughts of removing him until it was way too late.

The Cubs have led in every single one of these crosstown games.

The first game against Burke, they open with a crooked number in the first inning and end up losing.

The last game of that series, Rea couldn't protect a 3 run lead and they got walked off by a 3rd string catcher.

And today, Zeferjahn blows it in the 8th.

Just horsefeathers ridiculous.  The pitching on this team is so horsefeathered

Yea, just looked...

If they only face 1 or 2 batters to finish inning and stay in game,  it carries over and they still have to face the minimum 3 batters.

Learned something new with that rule

Either that season ticket holder with the wavy hair sitting to the left of screen has many women in his family or he is the luckiest man in Chicago.

I just read the rule. It says he doesn’t have to face 3 batters if he ends the inning. However if they don’t take him out at the end of the inning he does have to fulfill the 3 batter minimum. So Zeferjahn did have to face a 3rd batter.

They never lead in the taillon start where he gave up 5 470 ft home runs.
