4.1 fWAR last year, 22.7 combined the last 5 seasons.  Obviously a bit of a down year this year with regards to results but his FIP and xFIP are right in the same range as previous years and he's at 2.6 fWAR (I know pitching WAR is meh, just easy to quickly review) so there's probably some bad luck involved.  I think this is a great move.

Going to miss Southisene but this is a deal you *have* to pull the trigger on.  Only thing I don't like about this deal was I was hoping for a bigger deal where we get Hoffman too, though obviously this doesn't totally preclude doing that tomorrow.

I also hope now that he's in the org we get Jed to come clean about how long they've been trying to get Gausman.  I think we heard rumors as far back as '15/'16?

Also, Gausman's xFIP is better than anyone on the Cubs that's made a start this year except Ben Brown and Riley Martin who was an opener.

Yeah I'd say Gausman is pretty comparable to Boyd at this point.  It's not ideal that these guys are our co-aces but they're legitimate playoff caliber starters.

I like Bateman and Southisene, but this is a pretty small price to pay - especially considering how large an upgrade this is and how desperately we need it.

I think they are doing something big tomorrow   , I really do . If Gausmab is the only starter they get then they will get two high leverage guys for the pen , but I think it will be another starter and 1 reliever

This dude's HR/9 is only 1.1, is that allowed?

He doesn’t sound like a culture fit. This is a huge mistake.
