Very few players with Bateman's profile have long career in the majors. That's a lot of hopium.

Yeah, I think so, too.  I started feeling for those Jays podcasters.  They actually said something like Cease getting Cy Young is the only bright future for this season.

Gausman for 2 guys that weren’t top 20 in the system (and aren’t even lottery ticket types) is some fine work by Jed.

I'm listening to a Blue Jays podcast about the Gausman trade.  Basically, those guys are saying it's a fair trade, knowing what the Tigers got for Skubal.  They're kind of excited about Bateman.  They think he might play for the Jays this year.

Batenan might be in CF for the Jays when we play them if they trade Varsho.

Taillon very well could be in for Gausman.  Would love to take Hoffman off their hands and make it a hat-trick.

If I were a Jays fan I'd be PO'd with that deal.

A few outs away from a World Series ring to last place is a pretty crazy falloff for a team that brought back virtually everyone except swapping Bichette for Cease and even adding a solid 3b.

100%. At least try for a guy they could dream on a bit.

Peter Bergeron maybe?

If that's the best the Jays could get for Gausman that bodes well for the rest of the SP and possibly reliever market.

But the Jays would probably still have traded him for a bag of peanuts if that's all they could get just so they could dunnp the salary.  Angels/Mariners etc aren't that desperate with their controlled SP.
